Video: New DNC ad Dowdifies McCain's quote on economic expertise, sort of

Watch what he said today on Good Morning America…

…and now watch how the DNC conveniently excises the part where he corrects her by noting what he actually said was he knows less about the economy than about national security issues. Which is true: His exact words to Stephen Moore in the now-infamous 2005 Journal piece were, “I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.” So why does this only qualify as a “sort of” Dowdification? Because Maverick, ever eager to impress the media with his willingness for straight talk, has in fact belittled his own grasp of economics repeatedly, as you’re about to see. The clip’s not exhaustive, either. Remember when he told reporters last December that “The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should”? Oh, how we chuckled. Good times, good times.

Incidentally, the best goof on McCain’s handle on economics remains this Paulnut version of Miss Teen South Carolina’s meltdown. Watch it if you missed it in January.
