Actually, not so shocking. Had the decision come four months ago in the heat of the primary and he responded this way, that would have been shocking. As it is, consider this the legal equivalent of his many full-throated statements of support for Israel. Maybe he means it, maybe he doesn’t, but he can’t afford to be on the wrong side of it politically so his disciples will just have to console themselves with the possibility that it’s yet another lie concocted in the interests of getting elected. The DUers sound bummed. They’ll get over it.
