“It’s not math anymore,” writes Peggy Noonan of Her Majesty’s quest for the nomination, “it’s psychodrama.” Hence the brilliance of this little offering, updating the greatest scene from one of the greatest movies ever to capture our gal’s transition from gritty perseverance to some sort of dissociative disorder. Her fundraising is collapsing; her lackeys from BJ’s administration are abandoning ship; her once formidable lead among the superdelegates will be gone by early next week at the latest. Even the pollsters are deciding not to bother anymore. She is, at long last, ready for her close-up, Mr. DeMille.
