Donna Brazile: We must protect democracy by opposing artificial timetables

Because, after all, why abort a process that still stands a chance of working?

Count me among the skeptics that a long Democratic primary definitely redounds to the GOP’s advantage. Yeah, it gives McCain a breather and time to fundraise, but having the entire country’s attention riveted on Hillary and Obama for months while Maverick slips off the radar screen can’t be good. If the dream scenario occurs and it comes down to Florida, Michigan, and superdelegates, awesome. But if they broker a deal at the eleventh hour to avoid any irreparable nastiness, where does that leave us? Still better off than the left, I guess, because they’re starting to wet themselves over the scenario.
