“It sounds like code words,” said Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, a military analyst at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies. “That he’s actually either offering himself up or that he’s already crossed that line in his own mind.”
Other messages include questions, the official with access to the e-mails said, that include when is jihad appropriate, and whether it is permissible if there are innocents killed in a suicide attack.
“Hasan told Awlaki he couldn’t wait to join him in the discussions they would having over non-alcoholic wine in the afterlife,” the official said…
Federal investigators have found that Hasan donated $20,000 to $30,000 a year to overseas Islamic “charities.” As an Army major, his yearly salary, including housing and food allowances, was approximately $92,000. A number of Islamic charities have been identified by U.S. authorities as conduits to terror groups.

“The American-born Awlaki is considered a recruiter for al-Qaeda. He has been in hiding since the shooting, but a Yemeni journalist told ABC News today that the e-mails show Hasan was “almost a member of al-Qaeda.”
Left out the money quote.

Code words? What “code” might that be? English?
LibTired on November 19, 2009 at 11:20 PM
Yeah, I have no idea. The Lt. Col. isn’t a real deep thinker.

O Ye Sheikh Hussain of the Whine House
Are we allowed to jump to our conclusions yet or is still too early ?
macncheez on November 19, 2009 at 11:27 PM
Yeah, I agree. This could mean anything. He was possibly just happy about his religion and was contemplating the afterlife. Christians always talk about heaven.
It’s racist and sexist to call this man a terrorist just because he was acting, talking and plotting like one before committing a terrorist like act.

“Non-alcoholic wine”?

Like I said before, baking one cake doesn’t make me a baker. Making one candlestick doesn’t make me a candlestick maker.
Shooting up a military base once, while shouting “allahu akbar”, trying to contact al quaeda, and telling a radicalist cleric that I want to join him in the afterlife, does not make me a terrorist! It’s a double standard!
Keljeck on November 19, 2009 at 11:37 PM
Heres your non-alcoholic wine you 2 pieces of unfried bacon.
Cheers

This gets more insane every day.
Think of all the Hasans still out there, ignored by their bureaucracies.

I don’t see anything wrong with that statement. I can’t wait for them to join each other in the afterlife either.

The Oprah served as a John the Baptist type for Obamassiah. It is now time for her head to be served on a plate to fulfill the evil desire of the queen.
Osis on November 20, 2009 at 8:38 AM
Ya’, you don’t need to be Barney Frank to decode that one. I think that may be the Big Nasty Secret behind the whole Jihad thing. I’ve never seen any reference to the 72 virgins being female. Probably why they treat their women like $#!+.
ronnyraygun on November 20, 2009 at 8:38 AM
I wonder when the irony of his “can’t wait” will be felt, if ever during his eternal damnation.
Osis on November 20, 2009 at 8:41 AM
Hey, I like Dr. Pepper. Maybe they serve Pepsi.
Obviously this guy is clearly suffering from PTSD by proxy. Absolutely nothing to do with a warped Islamic view. Nope, not at all.
rbj on November 20, 2009 at 8:45 AM
Sort of like how the media treats Sarah Palin?
rbj on November 20, 2009 at 8:47 AM
You got a point there Otis. I still say that anyone who would commit suicide to get 72 virgins for eternity, does not understand the concept of either virginity, or eternity.
MikeA on November 20, 2009 at 8:50 AM
You got that right. I’m sure there are some of our tolerant liberals that would love to cast the first stone in her stoning, just because she will not yeild to their causes.
MikeA on November 20, 2009 at 8:52 AM
I Sense a new gay movie ala Brokeback Mountain Chronicling the love that cannot be as one is on the run and another on trial and the horrific deed that keeps them apart we could call it-
……. “Hell can wait”

Good God, this, and the memo his boss wrote in 2007, I read all this, and all I can think is how different it would have been if Hasan were enlisted.
When I was enlisted, and forgot to clean the refrigerator seal to its original condition, I got read the riot act and was threatened to lose a stripe, and thus, my non-commissioned officer status.
I read in my base paper weekly about lower enlisted who get caught drinking underage in their barracks (not driving), and lose one or two stripes and hundreds of dollars a month as non-judicial punishment. Yet, my service’s senior legal authority, two stars and all, had affairs with dozens of his female subordinates, officers and enlisted, and he receives non-judicial punishment (not even a court-martial!), and still gets to retire in the “reduced” rank of colonel. Poor thing has to live on only about $10K per month in retired pay.
And a damn Captain who can’t manage to do his job properly, a job for which the Army paid all training costs/tuition, simply gets moved to a different posting. Heads need to roll…and not just Hasan’s.

I take some small comfort in the fact this was reported via ABC news. It was reported in ‘the Blotter from Brian Ross’. On the ABCNews News page, they have a highlighted link to the article ‘Can’t Wait: Hasan’s Email’ right next to a headline about Oprah’s bombshell announcement.
While the bombshell is Hasan, and not Oprah, at least ABCnews is sharing the information. Going to the Blotter page, Ross has a lot of coverage on Hasan, along with articles about CIA torture, for balance, I suppose
One interesting article describes a young convert buddy of Hasan who has gotten in deep supposedly telling the BBC he had no pity for the Ft Hood victims. The article displays a picture of bin Laden over a burning White House taken from the man’s website. The young man lives with his parents who work on the base. Web searches on Duane Reasoner Jr yield some sparse results.
Researching Reasoner interview, I found this link that Hasan is paralyzed
Second useful article is about his court martial
Still ABC can state they reported the facts and that is a start.
Search engines go mum when the topic contradicts their politics. I found great coverage of Reasoner, including his BBC no pity interview at theenterprisereport. Check out his picture gallery which includes Obama superimposed with “America will bow down to islam”, and “Jesus Christ said worship allah, my lord and your lord”, and the white house with “Nation under God act like it islamic law”
