We are living through an American inflection point. Days ago, Charlie Kirk—a 31-year-old father, husband, and leader of the most successful conservative youth movement in the nation’s history—was cut down on camera, in real time, in front of a horrified country.
I wish that sentence were hyperbole. It’s not.
Like millions of others, I watched the footage and reeled. This wasn’t just a personal tragedy for Charlie’s wife and children, though it certainly is that. It was a political assassination of a man who dared to organize young Americans against the prevailing leftist orthodoxy. His work with Turning Point USA left a mark on the culture—and he was murdered for it.
The Left’s Reaction
What has followed is as abhorrent as than the crime itself: the response.
Instead of sober reflection, elected Democrats, academics, and media figures have openly justified or even celebrated Kirk’s murder.
Minnesota Democrats retweeted and liked posts suggesting Kirk “reaped what he sowed.”
Ilhan Omar shared a video calling Kirk a “stochastic terrorist” and “Dr. Frankenstein” who “deserved” his end.
A New York Times columnist mused publicly about wishing for Donald Trump’s death, with no meaningful pushback from his peers.
University faculty and even public-school teachers joined in the pile-on, only disciplining themselves once exposed.
This isn’t fringe Twitter noise. These are institutions and elected officials—the people who shape your laws, your kids’ classrooms, your news feeds. Their message is unmistakable: if you are on the right, your right to life is conditional.
Meanwhile, legacy media’s instinct was to pivot—not to the killer’s ideology, but to gun control, as if the problem is that law-abiding Americans still have the ability to defend themselves.
No Moral Equivalence
Let’s be clear: there is no “both sides” here.
When Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were assassinated in June, every single Republican voice condemned it unequivocally. No excuses. No justifications. No smirks.
Contrast that with the chorus we’ve heard since Kirk’s death. Celebration. Deflection. Blame-shifting. That is the mainstream left in 2025.
If you still claim moral equivalence between left and right in America, you’re not paying attention—or you don’t want to.
What Must Be Done
Now comes the hard part. Outrage without a plan is just noise.
We cannot respond with vigilante violence. That path is a trap, and it’s the Left’s home turf. They burn cities; we don’t.
But neither can we retreat into civility-as-suicide. Neville Chamberlain was civil, too. Appeasement is not an option when the other side openly justifies political murder.
Here is what must be done:
Use every legal and institutional lever available—at the state and federal level—to dismantle left-wing organizations that fund, enable, or excuse political violence. If they are laundering money for riots, bailing out street thugs, or platforming assassination rhetoric, they must face consequences.
Enforce the law impartially. Prosecutorial discretion has been weaponized by Soros-backed DAs who refuse to prosecute criminals while criminalizing conservatives. That era must end.
Expose and defund radicalized institutions. Universities and nonprofits that indoctrinate young Americans into Antifa-style ideology must have their funds seized, their leaders incarcerated, and their organizations forcibly dismantled. For this, there is precedent, when mob bosses tried to insulate themselves from accountability by claiming "I didn't kill the guy," we came up with RICO, a means to charge an entire organization with conspiracy when they collectively engaged in criminal behavior - regardless of the individual tasked to pull the trigger.
Stand unflinching in the public square. The Left counts on our silence. Every conservative voice must reject their narrative, call out their lies, and refuse to be cowed.
This is the war before us—not of bullets, but of law, institution, and cultural resolve.
The Choice Before Us
The assassination of Charlie Kirk revealed the battlefield as plainly as possible. Either we defend civilization, liberty, and the Constitution—or we allow the barbarian horde to keep marching through our institutions until America itself lies bleeding out on the pavement.
We don’t get to choose whether this is a fight. The choice is only how we fight it.
The Left has chosen assassination, celebration, and excuses.
We must choose justice, law, and survival.
And this time, we’d better mean it.
