The steaming, hypocritical, hyperbolic heap of hyperventilation that is the current Democratic Party continues its march into ignominy and disrepute as the current Democrat induced Schumer Shutdown marches on.
Democrat senators who hold the skeleton key to unlocking the government coffers and getting the squeaky wheels grinding again waltzed out of Washington yesterday after voting 'Nay' to doing so *checks notes* some Halloween appropriate thirteen times so far.
- The Senate adjourned on Thursday and won't meet again until Monday, extending the government shutdown until at least its 34th day, which would match the longest funding lapse in U.S. history.
While most of these arrogant Democrat Brahmins are well-heeled enough to purchase enough Ramen noodles with real shitake mushrooms to carry through a shutdown, unfortunately, many of their constituents - the very ones these same Democrats hold up as perpetual potential targets of unending GOP cruelty - will lose government lifelines at midnight tonight that can literally sustain their families, all courtesy of their Democrat elected officials' 'NAY' votes. Thirteen and counting.
House Republicans voted to keep the government open, basic services running, and feeding families. 210 House Democrats voted not to.
Thirteen straight times, all but three Democrat senators have voted against the clean Continuing Resolution.
Much has been made of the fact that, at the witching hour tonight, the funding for such vital programs as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) expire. This, naturally, has the air filled filled all sorts of moans and threats, both from angry SNAP beneficiaries, but also from House Democrats like AOC, who are sending angry letters to President Trump demanding that he pay the SNAP benefits that they and their senate colleagues voted to cut off.

Sometimes they need a gentle reminder to recall what they did and are still doing.
But there's another most favored program that's been sort of lost in the sauce with all the showier items. Head Start has been one of the Democrats' most cherished and protected initiatives for decades, not to mention a favorite and convenient cudgel for beating cruel, budget-minded Republicans about the neck and shoulders when cost-cutting is discussed. Most importantly of all, Democrats can sanctimoniously claim at a moment's notice that Head Start is?

The congresswoman from Ohio's OH-03, Joyce Beatty - 'Trump's reckless and heartless' to the children.
Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement in response to reports that President Trump may eliminate Head Start funding in his upcoming budget request:
"President Trump’s plan to eliminate Head Start—after 60 years of proven success helping children and families thrive—is yet another reckless and heartless attack on Ohio’s working families, children, and future.
Deborah Ross, the Democrat from NC-02 in Raleigh, NC, told Axios much the same thing.
...Why it matters: More than 790,000 children, through age 5, rely on Head Start for learning, meals and health care services, per a Wednesday report from the liberal Center for American Progress.
Zoom in: Around 20,500 Head Start students in North Carolina are funded through federal grants, according to Head Start's own tallies from 2022.
- North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District, which is represented by Rep. Deborah Ross, a Democrat, is one of the largest recipients of Head Start funding, according to CAP.
- Eleven Head Start grants worth $134 million are administered from Ross' district.
What they're saying: "Head Start is the reason tens of thousands of children in North Carolina can get the support they need at a critical stage of life," Ross said in a statement to Axios.
- "Our state is already facing a devastating childcare crisis. Now, President Trump wants to eliminate this essential program, terminating federal nutrition, family support, health care, and early childhood education assistance for the most vulnerable kids in our state."
- Shuttering the program would be "catastrophic," says Casey Peeks, senior director of Early Childhood Policy at CAP.

So doesn't it seem kind of odd that you haven't heard a peep out of Democrats about the 'catastrophic' effects of Head Start literally going away at midnight in their states for lack of funds because of the Schumer Shutdown? And you really haven't, have you?
HotAir obtained a document, subsequently confirmed by HHS officials, detailing the 140+ Head Start programs that will lose all funding at midnight tonight. While the total number of individual programs isn't a state secret or anything, what was interesting was where they were, what Congressional Districts they were in, and how many kiddoes in each were going to go without. Particularly, as no one seems to be talking about this, even though some programs are already shuttering in anticipation of funds being cut off.

I thought it would be kind of worth taking a look-see through some of the data to determine just how worried the FOR THE CHILDREN crowd was as their party literally cut the children off.
How about that Atlanta district and Rep Nikema Williams? She was elected overwhelmingly with 85.7% of the vote, has close to 4000 children in at least four Head Start operations in her district, and yet she was a 'NAY' on the House Continuing Resolution, which would have funded Head Start.
Georgia's Democrat senators Ossoff and Warnock have thirteen 'nay' Schumer Shutdown scalps hanging from their Brahmin belts...so far.
WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?
Ohio's Beatty has 1464 or so children in Head Start in her district, and Deborah Ross from North Carolina has nearly 3000 kiddos attending programs in her district. Both women were NAYS on funding Head Start by passing the clean CR.
What was that about 'reckless and heartless,' Rep Ross? Got a mirror?
All of their state senators, who are Republicans, have been 'Yeas' for funding Head Start thirteen times over and counting.
Then you see the posturing these desperate Democrats are doing, without mentioning the background. Look at what this representative from California saying here.
