New Jersey Voters Seeing a 'Shift in the Party'

Ooooh! This is getting so exciting.

New Jersey's still lost in the election sauce thanks to all the drama in the Virginia race, but that doesn't mean it isn't a nail-biter.

There have been some stories in the local media (and if you had a chance to read my Krasner piece yesterday, you know that means New York City or Philly) highlighting a shift among some of what were formerly loyal Democratic demographics - Hispanics, immigrants in general, and some in the North Jersey Italian communities.

This was a terrific segment on one fellow who'd immigrated from the Dominican Republic and voted Democrat since he became a citizen. This time around, though, he was voting for Jack Ciattarelli.

...When asked, what do like most about Trump ~I like the way he's enforcing the law

Trump flipped this County in 2024, you folks in NJ need to vote for Ciattarelli

One Republican candidate for sheriff, who happens to be Latino as well, says people need to take a look.

'Hey, we've changed! We're not your granddad's Republican party anymore.'

Trump's doing a call-in tele-rally with Ciattarelli tonight, so that should be a lot of fun.

I imagine it will get more than the 264 people the Obama/Newsom cringefest got the other night.

Mikie Sherrill's calling in what passes for big guns, although I hope she realizes that guy's not really famous for showing up when you need him.

There has also been a groundswell of local Democrat officials endorsing Ciattarelli, which has honestly been something to see.

..."Ciattarelli has secured endorsement from local Democratic officials, including lifelong Democrat Anthony Vainieri, a North Bergen Commissioner, and former CHAIRMAN of the Hudson County Democrats!"

I mean, Democrats going after their nominee? Unheard of in the state.

I mean, DAWG

Now, in-person early voting begins tomorrow, and as always, that's a concern. But the Trump administration is on top of that as well. Harmeet Dhillon has announced that the Justice Department will be deploying election monitors not only to polling sites in New Jersey but also in California.

Evil-doers are on notice - no hanky panky this time.

Today, the Department of Justice announced that it will monitor polling sites in six jurisdictions ahead of the upcoming November 4, 2025, general election to ensure transparency, ballot security, and compliance with federal law.

The Department, through the Civil Rights Division, enforces federal voting rights laws that protect the rights of all eligible citizens to access the ballot. The Department regularly deploys its staff to monitor for compliance with federal civil rights laws in elections in communities across the country.

“Transparency at the polls translates into faith in the electoral process, and this Department of Justice is committed to upholding the highest standards of election integrity,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “We will commit the resources necessary to ensure the American people get the fair, free, and transparent elections they deserve.”

“The Department of Justice will do everything necessary to protect the votes of eligible American citizens, ensuring our elections are safe and secure,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Civil Rights Division. “Transparent election processes and election monitoring are critical tools for safeguarding our elections and ensuring public trust in the integrity of our elections.”

“Our democracy depends on free and fair elections,” said Acting United States Attorney Bill Essayli of the Central District of California. “We will work tirelessly to uphold and protect the integrity of the election process.”

...At this time, the Department will monitor the following jurisdictions:

  • Passaic County, New Jersey
  • Kern County, California
  • Riverside County, California
  • Fresno County, California
  • Orange County, California
  • Los Angeles County, California

There's also been a net gain of over 163K Republican voters in the state, and election officials in certain counties are rumored to be bracing for a big turnout when in-person voting opens.

Republicans have stepped up their ads, too. One of the most devastating hits right at the Democrat Party and Mikie Sherrill's support of the transgender's in girls' locker rooms and sports.

It's brutal, unsettling, and entirely on point.

Another is a bit of a hoot that was posted by a NJ state senator. A Jessica Rabbit clone talks about being hot under the collar with a saxophone warbling in the background.

All over the electricity prices.

Polling has swung way back to Jack.

New Jersey gubernatorial hopeful Mikie Sherrill is up five points in a new poll — but that might not be great news for her.

While US Rep. Sherrill (D-NJ) nabbed a 50% to 45% lead over Republican foe Jack Ciattarelli in the latest Rutgers-Eagleton poll of likely voters, the survey has a history of wildly underestimating the GOP vote.

The poll result is also a dramatic collapse from the 20-point lead she held in June.

“This garbage pollster missed by 5 in 2021 and 14 in 2024. I’m now convinced it’s really Jack +2,” political commentator Matt Rooney mused about the survey.

And the SaveNJ polling average has him within 2 points.

The race for New Jersey governor is down to its final 2.5 weeks, Save Jerseyans, and its objectively very close? 5 of 7 recent surveys in our average (see below) show an outright or statistical tie. Only two show the contest to succeed Phil Murphy outside of the margin of error and not by very much.

Nail biter.

So lemme repeat myself, New Jersey:
