The ICE Homan Cometh

If there's one thing you can say about Tom Homan, it is that he's consistent in his messaging. The Trump nominee for Border Czar took a little time out from his weekend plans - what, like, ice fishing, maybe a little shrimp on the barbie - to firmly shred Martha Raddatz's talking points about 'illegals' and her notion that the cost of removing them is 'too much.'

As of last Thursday, porculent billionaire J.B. Pritzker, governor of the formerly fair state of Illinois...

...was earnestly defending his 'stand in the way' defiance of stated Trump efforts to remove illegals.

'...Homan, people in that administration. They're the ones, who, again, are threatening people who are law-abiding. Who are often the anchors of their communities, who are paying taxes in this country...'

With classic Democratic logic, he glosses over that the very fact they are in this country was an illegal act, to begin with, no matter how well-behaved they may have been since.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker criticized the Trump administration’s deportation efforts and dismissed a directive from the White House that elected officials who don’t comply could face prosecution.

“They want people to step back and let them do whatever they want to do,” the Democratic governor said Sunday in an interview on CNN.

Speaking on “State of the Union,” Pritzker said Illinois will “stand in the way” of federal efforts that break Illinois law. Of violent criminals, he said, “We don’t want them in our state. We want them out of the country. We hope they do get deported, and if that’s who they’re picking up, we’re all for it.”

What Pritzker said he finds “quite disturbing, is they’re going after people who are law-abiding, who are holding down jobs, who have families here, who may have been here for a decade or two decades, and they’re often our neighbors and our friends.”

All that big talk from the governor inspired some similar early bravado on the same theme from the fragile bear-of-little-brain Chicago mayor.

Johnson Brushes Off Threat of Arrest for Failing to Help Trump’s Mass Deportation Effort

In an interview with WTTW News, Mayor Brandon Johnson on Thursday brushed off threats from federal officials to jail him for defending the Chicago law that will block police officers from carrying out the mass deportations of undocumented immigrants ordered by President Donald Trump.

Acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, set to be the second highest ranking law enforcement official in the U.S. Department of Justice, directed federal prosecutors across the nation on Wednesday to investigate and charge local officials who refuse to carry out the administration’s mass deportation agenda.

“We are not going to be intimidated by those acts of terror to radically shift our way of living,” Johnson said. “That’s what individuals who stoke fear into people want to see happen.”

Johnson said he was far more concerned about Trump’s efforts to target working people.

“We are going to hold to our values,” said Johnson, who has not held a full news conference since Trump took office.

I wonder what Hizzoner was doing this weekend?

Because, after a polite but firm reminder from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about what the ground rules would be going forward...

...he was nowhere to be found when Mr Homan and his group came to town for a surprise visit.

Dr. Phil even came to Chicago for a ride along with Homan and ICE as they went about their planned raids.

How weird is it that an illegal Thai - convicted of sex crimes involving children - knew who Dr Phil was?

This is a completely whack and surreal exchange.

This is the illegal Homan and Dr Phil are speaking to in the video. Look at the dates on his conviction and ordered deportation!

Almost 20 years since his conviction, almost 16 years since his ordered removal and HE IS ONLY IN CUFFS LAST NIGHT.

That's how long this criminal has been allowed to walk the streets of Chicago unmolested, thanks to their insane Sanctuary policies, and how many children have suffered in the meantime no one will ever know about.

I doubt the cost of that makes Martha Raddatz's pity party pocket calculator.

Dr Phil did an excellent job in this interview at the ICE Command Center before they hit the street. He intently grills Homan, using the language you hear on the news reports or read in the papers about the raids' intents (sometimes even before they happen), who explains what ICE is doing and why they are being forced into the communities the way they are by the active intransigence of officials like Pritzker and Johnson, as well as the resistance of activists and advocates.

The local Chicago paper is feeding the fear factor about carrying criminals off - of course, they are. In precisely the fear-mongering, anti-authority tone you'd expect.

‘We are terrified’: ICE begins long-promised immigration blitz in Chicago

It was around 8 a.m. Sunday when a family friend called Maria to ask why her husband of nearly 10 years hadn’t shown up for work.

Minutes later, with federal immigration agents banging on the front door of her apartment in Chicago’s Hermosa neighborhood, she had an answer.

Maria’s husband was one of an as-yet-unknown number of people taken into custody Sunday morning in what appeared to be the opening salvo in the long-promised — and much-feared — federal immigration blitz on Chicago.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Jeff Carter issued a statement Sunday saying that ICE and partner federal agencies “began conducting enhanced targeted operations today in Chicago to enforce U.S. immigration law and preserve public safety and national security by keeping potentially dangerous (criminals) out of our communities.”

...Chicagoans and advocates for undocumented immigrants reported at least a half-dozen ICE sightings across the city and suburbs Sunday.

One raid is one too many, regardless of where it takes place,” read a statement Sunday from a coalition of immigration advocacy organizations.

The Chicago Public Schools - read: Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) - are heavily invested in the illegal community as bodies are money, and they are also adept at feeding the fear factor game.

The CPS recently gleefully twisted a Secret Service school visit to investigate a threat against the president into an ICE raid.

Makes for better public consumption in the current climate, and the old adage about a lie going around the world still holds true when you're trying to score points.

The rational folks in Chicago are simply not buying any of it and have nary a sympathetic bone in their bodies for the criminals, the simply illegal, or anyone standing in the way of protecting them.

They are very happy the ICE Homan has come to town.
