Oleaginous Gov Gavin Shivs 'Free Houses for Illegals' Bill

Oh, MAN!

San Franistan is the acknowleged ground zero for the lunatics and ruinous progressive insanity running both California and our country.

The formerly beautiful City by the Bay has gifted us with such wholesome Americans as Scott Wiener...

... and rictus-grinned Nancy Pelosi...

...while also spawning Randall Flagg-lite, the state's current chief executive. The very same unctuous Gavin Newsom, former San Francisco mayor of little renown, who has now managed to turn the entire state into what he started in his home city.

The gov has nothing and no one but his citizens to torment and their money to burn, and he delights in doing so at every opportunity. It matters not a whit that there's literally no money left, which was the case in February when they opened the state Medicaid rolls to illegals.

Come on in for free treatment, border-jumping, resource-mooching criminal class. No questions asked.

...This very same February - the one with the $73B deficit - the state legislature plunged ahead as if they were benevolent gods of yore handing out favors from an infinitely stocked treasure cave...or at least Oprah with a Medi-Cal card for darn near the whole audience.

On Monday, California became the first state in the nation to offer health insurance to all eligible undocumented immigrants. Beginning January 1, immigrants of all ages will be eligible for the state’s health insurance program for low-income people, known as Medi-Cal.

In July, the great idea of the moment was cash giveaways for users who stayed clean.

IT'S ONLY OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY, YO

It's how that man and his legislative toadies operate - full speed ahead, and someone else's fault if they get hit by the Gav train.

It is funny to see him finally react - it must be because it's an election year.

Which I'm assuming was the catalyst for the original brilliant idea to begin with. An election year pander so huge, so overwhelming that people everywhere were stopping to look at CA like they had just dropped their shorts publicly.

Yes. Student loan payoffs were an awful idea and a grievous injustice done to people who dutifully - and often painfully - repaid their own loans, but what CA was proposing was going to make that look like an amateur-hour tax grab.

The state legislature had a bill ready to go that would give qualifying residents and illegal aliens up to $150K in interest-free loans for down payments on homes. As the program requirements were pretty restrictive, not that many CA citizens were going to qualify, but plenty of you-know-who's were going to hit the jackpot.

Perish the thought that it was a blatant pandering effort to cement a permanent block of recipients into the Democratic voting base.

As she nervously sucked her teeth while jazz hands frantically waved off repeated carrier landings, Pelosi sparred with Bill Maher's vastly superior intellect as she insisted our American Dream is to pay for everyone else living it and CA was in the vanguard.

...Bill Maher: "The CA lawmakers giving government assistance to undocumented immigrants to buy houses. That's kind of a different place than the Democrat party used to be on immigration, is it not?"

Nancy Pelosi: "Immigration had always been a bipartisan always."

Maher: "Not free houses."

Pelosi: "It's not free houses, it's the American dream being available to more people."

Maher: "This is for the undocumented." Pelosi: "I would like to move them to documented."

The open border policies of the Biden Harris administration were not a bug, but a feature of their system to convert illegals into votes.

They got boatloads more heat - and wretched publicity - than they bargained for and a whole lot less support than they they'd anticipated. The issue blew up on them like a Newsom neutron bomb from coast to coast in an election year, where immigration is far from a backburner issue.

Even Democrats were losing their minds, because the Kamala CA crazy on illegals is costing them big time, and there are hundreds of thousands of very unhappy big blue city residents because of one issue.

Illegal immigration IS THE FACE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

You don't even have to ask them - they tell you.

Americans do not want to smell what the Dems are selling at all, and it's madness to push it the way they have been.

Newsom must have gotten the message somehow - either the inboxes exploded in Sacramento, or someone hit the red button on the DingBat Phone at Harris campaign HQ.

However it came about, in a surprise climbdown, Newsom stabbed that free-houses-for-Jose vampire right through the heart this afternoon.

The reason?

As if by miraculous intervention, the spendthrift governor has realized, "Yo tengo no dinero."

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday, Sept. 6 vetoed a controversial housing bill that would have ensured California homebuyers are not excluded from assistance programs due to their immigration status.

AB 1840 would have ensured that an applicant’s immigration status was not the sole reason they were denied from any of California’s Housing Finance Authority’s home purchase assistance programs, including the Dream for All Program, which provides a loan for first-time homebuyers.

Given the finite funding available for CalHFA programs, expanding program eligibility must be carefully considered within the broader context of the annual state budget to ensure we manage our resources effectively,” Newsom wrote in his veto.

Oh, DO go on.

No money? Pffft.

That's his story, and he's sticking to it.

But the nasty little piece of legislation caught an awful lot of grief...

...The bill received significant pushback and national media attention, particularly as opponents questioned its cost in a year when California is already grappling with a major budget deficit.

A fiscal analysis determined the bill would result in “unknown significant cost pressures, potentially in the millions annually,” to cover the expanded eligibility for the California Dream for All Program.

Local lawmakers were mostly opposed to the bill.

“Very simply, we cannot afford it,” Sen. Kelly Seyarto, a Republican whose district includes Yorba Linda, said in late August. “We’re already battling with deficits every year, year after year.”

...and the absolute worst kind of national publicity.

Wasn't enough lipstick to begin to cover that puerco.

The Cackles and Corn Pone campaign is no doubt heaving a huge sigh of relief. I can imagine visualizing Trump eating her alive over it at some point during the debate on Tuesday was simply too terrifying to contemplate, and I have zero doubt they applied pressure on their odious partner in progressive politics to back off.

Play Gavin Van Helsing, get the stake, and take one out for the team.

Knowing Newsom, it'll cost them. Hopefully, Cackles and Corn Pone won't be in any position to settle up come November 6.

Aw, what the heck. At the rate Newsom's going...

On the flip side, young rich Americans are fleeing states with high living costs in droves. California saw the largest net decline of young households earning $200,000 or more in 2022, losing over 3,200 more high-earners than it gained over the year.

Some parts of the Golden State may be able to compete with Florida’s weather and entertainment draws. But many Americans, even high-earners, may struggle to afford a comfortable life in California. The state has notoriously high prices for necessities like housing, groceries and insurance.

In fact, two adults without kids would need nearly $30,000 more per year in San Francisco than in Miami to cover costs for housing, food, transportation, taxes, health care and other necessities, according to estimates from the Economic Policy Institute.

...there won't be anyone left in the state anyway.
