Yesterday, in a gobsmacking display of ignorance, arrogance, and cold-blooded antipathy to the suffering of hundreds of thousands of American citizens devastated by an unprecedented natural disaster, the number two person at the helm of our national government declared aid would be doled out how?
According to equity standards and the degree of your skin’s pigmentation.
…During the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum on Friday afternoon, Harris told actress Priyanka Chopra that when it comes to climate change, it is people in lower-income communities and people of color who are “most impacted by these extreme conditions.”
“I know we are all thinking about the families in Florida and Puerto Rico with [Hurricane] Fiona and what we need to do to help them in terms of an immediate response and aid,” Harris said.
“We have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity. Understanding not everyone starts out at the same place, and if we want people to be in an equal place, sometimes we have to take into account those disparities,” she added.
You can’t make this up.
Kamala Harris said the administration will be giving hurricane resources “based on equity” by directing funds to “communities of color.”

Governor DeSantis and his team immediately began a media-wide pushback as word spread of the VP’s unbelievable statement, and panic started to set in over its implications.
This is false. @VP's rhetoric is causing undue panic and must be clarified. FEMA Individual Assistance is already available to all Floridians impacted by Hurricane Ian, regardless of race or background. If you need assistance visit https://t.co/x9X8AstnzL or call 1-800-621-3362. https://t.co/idsw1PX86x

Every member of the governor’s staff, including his campaign staff, has been tirelessly working ’round the clock to prepare for, and now deal, with the impacts of Hurricane Ian’s rampage across the state. The last thing they needed to do, in the face of the absolute devastation visited across the breadth of Florida, is manage more panic wrought by the selfish and politically calculated comments of a word salad master.
This is important. AGAIN, your race or ethnicity doesn’t factor into your eligibility for this program or any FEMA assistance. See thread for more information on how to access it #HurricaneIan https://t.co/lp3x4f4P4u

Word – about available programs must get out, relief stations, places where water/food/assistance is available, where FEMA is staging to send teams out, or start to process claims – should not have to be filtered through repeated disclaimers about eligibility based on your socio-economic group or ethnicity, period. VP Harris has, and is, inexcusably costing precious time, and no apology or clarification has been forthcoming from either her or the White House.
Completely inexcusable.
Were I the FEMA director and her team on-scene, I would be apoplectic, as her job just became even more complicated, plus outraged, resentful vitriol from folks in the zone without the benefit of the whole story will be flowing her way as well. But who knows with these people. They should all be professionals and march through.
Ghastly scenes like this are throughout central Florida, from coast to coast…
…and all the Vice President of the United States can think to say is “white people, back of the line“?
How on Earth did the good Lord allow 81Mlol voters to foist not one, but TWO malevolent, blithering idiots on the United States at the same time?
