The president and liberals want to talk about a “war on women”? How about the war on conservative women? It’s happening, but liberals prefer to stay silent about it — when they’re not directly waging it.

For years, comedian Bill Maher has been one of its generals. One of the most egregious examples of his disdainful derogation and objectification of women whose political ideology he despises was his disgusting denouncement of Sarah Palin as a “c-nt” at a live show in Texas last March. As, so far, I’ve never yet heard teenage girls affectionately refer to each other by that term (please may that always be the case!), I’d say Maher’s misogynistic vocab word was worse than Rush Limbaugh’s “sl-t.” (For the record, though, I wish that term were out of use, too.)

Nor do I recall Maher ever apologizing for his affront to SP. Yes, yes, I know: Sarah Palin is a national figure and Sandra Fluke is ostensibly a private citizen (more like a seasoned activist) — but, while that difference might make Limbaugh’s rant regrettable for another reason, it doesn’t make Maher’s laudable. At issue here is the language they used — language that President Barack Obama, to judge by his condemnatory remarks of Rush, supposedly wants to be eliminated from the public discourse entirely (and I agree — it should be!).

If that’s the case, how can the president possibly condone the Alabama Democratic Party’s decision to recruit Bill Maher to headline a fundraiser March 17? How can Obama not denounce the $1 million donation Maher made to his Super PAC?

Sarah Palin asked the same question in a recent tweet.

“Pres. Obama says he called Sandra Fluke because of his daughters,” she wrote. “For the sake of everyone’s daughter, why doesn’t his super PAC return the $1 million that he got from a rabid misogynist?”

If Obama is anything like the female Democratic lawmakers in the above video, though, he’ll opt to say nothing rather than vocally distance himself from Maher.

Another erstwhile soldier in the left’s war against conservative women is typically non-political-but-always-pushing-the-envelope comedian Louis C.K., whose one-time rant against Sarah Palin rivaled Maher’s worst insults in its crudity. Far from calling him out, the MSM has decided to reward him. The Radio and TV Correspondents Association invited him to host its annual black-tie dinner in June. (Somewhat O/T but important: I’ll forever think this bit from Louis C.K. is one of the funniest and most spot-on pieces of social commentary I’ve seen a comedian deliver. Notice that he didn’t have to insult a single female to be funny!)

Update: Interestingly enough, Bill Maher recently came to the defense of Rush Limbaugh and said liberals should accept his apology. Still no apology from Maher to Palin, though.
