It’s not enough for the Occupy Wall Streeters to trash Zuccotti Park or to take advantage of local restaurant owners by using restroom facilities repeatedly and for free. Now, they’re marching on the homes of some of New York City’s wealthiest residents (although some homes — like that of billionaire NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg — will be spared). From The New York Daily News:

A “Millionaires March” will visit the homes – or, more realistically, the gleaming marble lobbies – of five of the city’s wealthiest residents, including News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and conservative billionaire David Koch.

Marchers want to present the moguls with oversize checks to dramatize how much less they will pay when New York State’s 2% tax on millionaires expires in December.

“Ninety-nine percent of the residents of New York are going to suffer from this tax giveaway so the 1% who already live in absolute luxury can put more money in their pockets,” said Doug Forand, one of the march organizers.

“This is fiscally, economically and morally wrong.”

Michelle Malkin predicts it won’t take long before the protesters channel ACORN and break into private homes. If it hasn’t happened yet, it will soon. Maybe if they do, Bloomberg will actually crack down — but, for the record, I think his “wait it out” approach is actually advisable for now. When a five-year-old throws a tantrum, you stick him in a corner and let him wear himself out. When he starts breaking things, then you take a different tack. Still, it’s all so depressing: The public cost of the occupation is estimated to be $2 million a day — and, as Ed says, you know who’ll be cleaning up after it’s all over and it won’t be the slackers who started it.

Meanwhile, the number of arrests associated with the protest have continued to grow — and Diane Sawyer says the protests have spread to “thousands” of countries (as Doug Powers put it, she’s quite the nation-builder, that Diane Sawyer!). It looks like the occupiers are just digging in: The Park supposedly has a makeshift library, medical tent and its own newspaper, The Occupy Wall Street Journal.

What’s the over-under on these? Another two weeks? Four? When does the weather change in NYC? Never thought I’d say this when the fall is so lovely and mellow, but, if cold will scatter these protesters, then I hope winter comes early.
