Flashback: Obama in 2009, wishing he didn't have to listen to people criticize him all the time

The creators of “AttackWatch.com” apparently missed the first part of these remarks by the president in 2009, when Obama said he’s “a big believer in openness when it comes to the flow of information” and “a big supporter of non-censorship.” According to the 2009 Obama, the openness to criticize makes democracy stronger and makes him “a better leader” because it forces him to hear opinions he doesn’t want to hear.

But, even two years ago, Obama hinted at just how much he’d appreciate an outreach like AttackWatch.com.

“Now, I should tell you, I should be honest. As President of the United States there are times where I wish information didn’t flow so freely then I wouldn’t have to listen to people criticizing me all the time,” he said.

AttackWatch.com is all too happy to oblige. As Ed said when he posted that classic AttackWatch ad, it’s hard to resist the separate urge to write about every little video that highlights the silliness of this site. As has already been established, it makes the president look petty, paranoid and small. I just want to tell him, “Waaah. Somebody call the waambulance.” It’s also hard to resist the urge to write to see just what it takes to be reported to AttackWatch anyway …
