I live in Minnesota. Sometimes I swear it's the place where the Babylon Bee finds the real oliticians and situations they can then turn around and present as "satire".
It can get tiring.
Now, a lot of my Republican friends have left the state for less-hostile, generally more sane places.
Being descended from Vikings (the real kind, not Minnesota's hapless and accursed football team), I'm more inclined to fight than run — speaking politically, rhetorically and electorally, ideally.
But somewhere just off my mental back burner is the germ of a plan to decamp to solid-red northwestern Wisconsin, if the Minnesota DFL's (which is the DSA in all but name) hijinks get too oppressive.
So, my Badger friends - and I guess in this case it's my badger Democrat friends. You didn't screw it up for me. Yet. .
To my amazement, Francesca Hong came up shhort in the Wisconin Democrat priimary for the nod to get on the ballot this fall.
And part of me thinks the woman's story reads so much like someone the Babylon Bee made up that it was too much even for Wisconsin Democrats.
She's had her share of headlines. And for me, they all bring up one question: how far is "too far" for modern Democrats? Does the concept of "too far" exist anymore?
Although talk show host Michael Savage sold a few million copies of his book "Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder", I tend not to hold that against candidates, all by itself:

After all, history is full of leaders who have had various kinds of mental illness and gone on to lead; Caligula, Nero, French king Charles "The Mad" VI, and of course British King Charles III of "Declaratio of Independence" fame.
Of course, with Hong as with all DSA politicians, it's the whole "destroying the institutions of Western Civilization" thing that's the real clinker:

Not just in Wisconsin, of course. The DSA, and one suspects Hong herself, have national ambitions:

Arguably, her greatest offense against western civilization in this race, at least as far as Wisconsin voters might be concerned, is dragging "Culvers", a regional fast-food chain that is almost as central to the fabric of Wisconsin-ness as Vince Lombardi, cheese and Bucky Badger himself.
Now, some are pointing out that Hong seems almost like a cartoon character a conservative might make up to pillory clueless ultra-progressive with luxury beliefs — almost too perfect a strawman to light on fire if she wins the primary, which it appears she will:

Not sure what the story with the boy's father is, but if he's not asking "is it really in our son's best interest for Mom to be dragging him on racial grounds on national media", I'd have to ask why.
And that, sadly, is not satire.
Anyway - Wisconsin Dems may have dodged a bullet last night.
And in a way, so did I. Maybe.
