One of the things the mainstream media never quite got around to during Barack Obama’s brief 2,922 days in office was fact-checking his every public comment. Probably just an oversight.

However, during Donald Trump’s endless 601 days in office the media have rediscovered their watchdog conscience and are keeping very close track — even daily — of his misstatements, untruths and exaggerations. Probably because there’s not much else happening with jobs, the economy, North Korea, Iran, ISIS, etc.

However, now Obama has chosen to gift us with his political presence once again. Who else do Dems have really? Maxine Waters? Nancy P?

The ex-president is hitting the midterm campaign trail — and the sitting president by name — from Illinois to California with Florida yet to come. And — wait for it — the Associated Press has now devoted an entire article to fact-checking him.

Seriously.

Last Friday Obama received an ethics award — seriously — back home in Illinois, this for the man who, among other courageous acts, steered a $522 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan to a campaign bundler before Solyndra went belly up. Obama lit into Trump for his statements to the press.

Obama said:

I complained plenty about Fox News. but you never heard me threaten to shut them down or call them enemies of the people.

Yeh, right. AP points out Obama’s team did, however, use a 1917 Espionage Act to aggressively prosecute leakers with extraordinary vigor. It seized the telephone records of some 20 AP reporters at work and home trying to uncover sources for one of its al Qaeda exclusives.

You may also recall Obama’s pal and Attorney General Eric Holder, who reportedly has eyes on the 2020 presidential wannabe race, signed off on court documents falsely declaring Fox News reporter James Rosen a criminal co-conspirator in another case. This to get wiretaps on his phones and those of his parents to track down his State Department sources.

To its credit, the news service now also points out the untruthfulness of Obama’s claim to being the real initiator of the booming economic growth the country is now experiencing. Under Obama’s policies and spending the U.S. experienced the weakest economic recovery (2.2 percent) in 65 years since the end of World War II.

Currently, it’s at a 4.1 percent annualized rate, the result of Federal Reserve actions, Republican tax cuts and the innate momentum of a recovery.

The AP also found the Chicagoan cherry-picking numbers about Obamacare and household income growth to make himself look good.

Yet to come, no doubt, are reexaminations of Obama’s promises about keeping your doctor and health insurance, lies he repeated at least 36 times in the course of selling Obamacare, which never ignited media outrage.

Then, there’s that obscure YouTube video that so enraged some Muslims in Libya that they torched the consulate in Benghazi and killed four Americans, left without backup or rescue.

And the yet-to-come the “swift justice” Obama promised would befall the perps and….
