Hillary Clinton’s new ad is designed to make voters terrified of having Donald Trump at the reigns of power during a major international crisis. The crisis she uses to demonstrate this concern is the Brexit vote results from this past Friday in Great Britain:
VOICE OVER: “Every president is tested by world events, but Donald Trump thinks about how his golf resort can profit from them. In a volatile world, the last thing we need is a volatile president.”
The montage of images and video make the Brexit vote and the media’s reaction to it appear like a major terror attack. It’s almost a throw-back to the 3AM phone call ad Clinton hammered then-Senator Obama with in 2008 suggesting we couldn’t afford an inexperienced hand when major world events occur.
The ad makes a big deal about Trump’s press conference in Scotland Friday highlighting the features of his new golf resort that opened there this weekend and suggests that in the face of major world events Trump would be out of touch, clueless and only look to make himself rich through his real estate holdings.
In other words, the ad is a lie.
The ad, entitled “Tested,” suggests that Trump ignored the issue of the Brexit vote at his press conference. He did not. After addressing the golf resort (which was the actual reason for his trip to Scotland and the purpose of the press conference in the first place) Trump took multiple questions from the assembled media and responded directly to them.
Clinton, on the other hand, delivered a written statement and did not actually speak about the Brexit issue until Sunday night in a speech before the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Clinton has yet to hold any sort of press conference on this (as Trump did) nor on any other issue for the past 200+ days.
And about the title of the ad… “Tested”? Really? Yeah, Hillary has been tested on a “volatile” night in September, 2012. Libya was a “volatile world” entirely of her making and on that “volatile” night four Americans were slaughtered, she did nothing to stop it and then she lied to the faces of the the American people and to the families of those who perished to save her own political career.
She failed the test.
