George Stephanopoulos, host of the Sunday morning show ABC This Week, is having a bad run when it comes to trying to prove Republicans to be bad people. That is especially true for Republicans who support former President Trump.
Lil George tried going up against Trump's defense attorney Will Scharf on Sunday's show. It didn't end well for the former Clinton staffer.
When Scharf brought up the fact that the judge in Trump's hush money trial in Manhattan should have recused himself, Lil George lobbed a Democrat talking point in response - why isn't Justice Alito recusing himself on matters relating to Donald Trump in the Supreme Court?
SCHARF: Well, I think when you look at binding Supreme Court precedent, including most notably the seminal case on judicial recusal, Caperton v. Massey, even the appearance of impropriety can require a judge to recuse for reasons of due process. Here, I think we have far more than an appearance of impropriety. The fact that Judge Merchán contributed to Joe Biden during the 2020 election, many of the other issues that we've raised in our recusal papers throughout this case. I think Judge Merchán should have clearly recused and I think that's going to be an issue that the appellate courts are gonna have to deal with.
George countered that the ethics panel for the state of New York said the judge was not required to recuse. Scharf said that the appearance of impropriety is greater with the judge. Scharf drew a connection between President Biden and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. George got huffy with the attorney and declared he would not "allow" Scharf to say such a thing.
Stephanopoulos dismissed this line of thinking: 'Of course, the attorney general of Manhattan has nothing to do with the Department of Justice.'
'I vehemently disagree that the district attorney in New York was not politically motivated here, and I vehemently disagree that President Biden and his political allies aren't up to their necks in this prosecution,' Scharf responded.
Stephanopoulos was ready to cancel Scharf from the entire show, saying: 'There's no evidence here of that sir... I'm not going to let you continue to say that — there's zero evidence of that.'
What a pompous ass.
As George brought up the "Lock her up" chants against Hillary in 2016, Scharf pointed out that Trump didn't weaponize the DOJ.
Rude and condescending. @GStephanopoulos to Trump lawyer @WillScharf: “Sir, I’m not going to let you continue to say that, there’s just zero evidence of that...This has nothing to do with Biden. Do you want to answer the question about the sentencing process or not?” #ThisWeek pic.twitter.com/6qNikWFVyc

ABC’s @GStephanopoulos: “You talked abt the weaponization of the legal system. Of course, it was former President Trump, who throughout the 2016 campaign led chants of ‘Lock her up’ about Hillary Clinton.” Schooled by Trump lawyer @WillScharf: He “didn’t weaponize DOJ.” #ThisWeek pic.twitter.com/2MpoqzWqru

There is that pesky fact that the Number 3 at Biden's DOJ, Matthew Colangelo, left that office to go work with DA Bragg's office in the prosecution of Donald Trump. Nothing to see here, just move along.
Democrats don't want to hear the truth when it clashes with their talking points. The Trump hush money trial was politically motivated, even the useful idiots on other news networks had to finally admit the travesty as it played out. It's all about keeping Trump off the campaign trail and out of the White House.
This is what happens when a news organization hires a former White House staffer and Democrat operative as a show host. They are complicit in the bias and they encourage it.
