Brutally Honest Bill Maher: "Ron DeSantis Wasn't Wrong"

Bill Maher was brutally honest during Friday's episode of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher. Maher acknowledged that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, "wasn't wrong" as he battled woke activism.

Maher used his "New Rules" segment to rail against Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV docuseries. It was refreshing to hear a left-coast elite take wokeism to task, especially as it pertains to the treatment of children. The docuseries is truly disturbing. I watched most of it after reading all the buzz about it and, to be honest, I couldn't finish the series. The topic is pedophilia in Hollywood, in particular on the sets of Nickelodeon shows.

The stories and video clips used to prove accusations were stomach-turning, to say the least. Maher weighed in and he was correct in his response.

“As one of the few people in the public eye who’s gone through life and never had kids, someone’s got to tell me why I’m always having to defend them,” the host said. “I don’t even like them, but I do think it’s every adult’s job to protect them.”

“Nickelodeon? It wasn’t a studio, it was Neverland Ranch with craft services,” he shared of his portrayal of the Network after watching the series. “It is just scene after scene, clip and clip, of the child stars of their day being subjected to obviously inappropriate, highly sexualized degradation. … I was grossed out and I’ve gone camping with John Waters.”

Maher pointed to liberal hypocrisy over the way Governor DeSantis has been treated for going up against Disney in Florida and making school classroom reforms to protect children

“The reason we find pedophiles … in kids TV is that’s where the kids are,” the host continued. “DeSantis wasn’t wrong. We’re so tribal now, the left will support child fucking if the wrong party calls it out.”

He said, “For pedophiles in Hollywood, it’s a small world after all." He inserted a little humor into a deeply dark and nefarious topic.

The host also slammed Instagram moms who are “practically OnlyFans-ing” their young daughters to “build social stardom,” and Drag Queen Story Hours. “Not that there’s anything wrong with being a drag queen,” he said. “But maybe it’s time to admit that sometimes Drag Queen Story Hour is more for the Queen than the kids.”

It is all about the adults, it's not about the kids. The Drag Queen Story Hour battles prove that. Most children are confused and some are frightened yet their woke parents take them to sit through adult men cosplaying as over-the-top women. The adults who support this crap should be criticized, not the parents who refuse to go along to get along.

Maher said that wokeism takes liberalism too far. He agrees with DeSantis that six-year-olds have no business being exposed to the agenda of activists who want to indoctrinate them on gender and sex in the classroom.

Though Maher will likely come under fire from the left, it was noted by commenters on social media that his audience became very quiet as he admitted DeSantis is right on this subject.

There was lots of support from the right and independents.

Stories that children are abused in Hollywood have been around for many years. This docuseries is in your face with it and it is really hard to watch. I've watched a lot of yukky things as I have covered culture as a blogger but this series hit differently because it's kids. It's enough to make the viewer weep for the lives destroyed by some sick adults.

Credit when credit is due, Bill Maher.
