Illegal Alien Kills Staffer Days Before Democrat Senator Calls Mayorkas Impeachment "Waste of Time"

DHS Secretary Mayorkas was not impeached by the Senate on Wednesday. Senator Cortez Masto (D-NV) described the impeachment as a "waste of time."

That may not seem like a controversial thing for a Democrat to say since it was obvious that Senate Democrats were never going to impeach Mayorkas. But, just a few days ago, a staffer for Cortez Masto was killed by an illegal alien. How cold and tone-deaf is this woman?

On April 6, Senator Cortez Masto's state senior advisor Kurt Englehart was in a car crash and he was killed. The driver of the other car was an 18-year-old illegal alien.

Elmer Rueda-Linares has been arrested and has been put on "ICE hold" in Washoe County Jail, as confirmed by a DHS official. An ICE hold is an immigration detainer. It is a directive from Immigration Customs and Enforcement that holds a "removable noncitizen" for up to an extra two days so that the person can be deported. An ICE hold is usually deployed against "removable noncitizens" who have been arrested for criminal offenses.

Imagine how the family and friends of Englehart must have felt when they saw that quote from the senator. It was thoughtless. She should be mad as hell that Mayorkas and President Biden are keeping the southern border open. She should have been speaking out and demanding that the Senate at least go through the motions of an impeachment trial against Mayorkas to send a message to President Biden. But no. It's an election year and she is willing to sacrifice any human decency to help Biden's re-election.

Rueda-Linares was placed on an immigration detainer on April 8, two days after the car crash. He is charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

DHS released a statement. As could be predicted, Rueda-Linares was caught entering the country illegally in 2021 and released.

“Rueda entered the United States March 12, 2021, at or near the Rio Grande City, Texas, Port of Entry without inspection by an immigration official,” DHS told The Post in a statement.

“United States Customs and Border Protection arrested him, and he was later released on his own recognizance June 22, 2021.”

Former President Trump ended catch and release during his term in office. Biden brought it back when he entered the White House. Joe Biden has blood on his hands.

Englehart had worked for the senator since 2017. Her team called him “a beloved figure across the state” who “was always eager to help a constituent at a moment’s notice.” He was 38-years-old. Last March he was named state senior adviser/rural outreach director.

A spokesperson for Cortez Masto responded to the news of the arrest of Rueda-Linares.

“Senator Cortez Masto looks forward to justice being served and has confidence in the local police and prosecutors,” Lauren Wodarski, a spokesperson for Cortez Masto, told The Post when asked about the revelation.

Too bad Cortez Masto isn't up for re-election this year. She was re-elected in 2022. Allegedly she has pressed Biden to step up border security assistance from the federal government. That's a little hard to believe after she called the Mayorkas impeachment a waste of time. It's bad enough Biden and Mayorkas are derelict in their top duty - keeping the homeland secure and Americans safe. It's even worse when she is unwilling to hold them accountable for the consequences of an open southern border.
