Joe Biden is in “deep, deep trouble” in his bid to win re-election. Democrats are scrambling and bringing in the heavy hitters.
One heavy hitter, Hillary Clinton, is a known election denier and two-time loser in winning the presidency herself, so what can go wrong? Fox News’ Charlie Hurt had some thoughts on Hillary’s umpteenth re-emergence on the political scene.
“But, you know you are in deep, deep trouble if you are picking up the bat phone and calling Hillary Clinton to come help you out,” Hurt added. “And I think it was sort of interesting that their thinking is that he needs help among women voters. If you need help among women voters, and you’re a Democrat, and you’re running against Donald Trump, you should just quit because it’s over.”
She never really left, did she? Democrats are in a panic.
As Jazz wrote about on Monday, The Wall Street Journal released a major poll over the weekend that shows Trump beating Joe Biden in 2024. The reason the WSJ poll raised eyebrows is because it was the first time the news outlet showed Trump ahead of Biden. And, Trump’s lead is outside the margin of error.
Hillary held a fundraiser in her Washington, D.C. mansion last month for her pal Joe. Biden is falling short with major demographics, among them women voters. Enter Hillary. Liberal women still love Hillary. Democrats know they aren’t going to get Republican voters in 2024 to support Biden, except maybe some bitter clinger NeverTrumpers and Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney, so Hillary is a go-to person. She is a successful fundraiser. She knows everyone and they take her calls.
Joe Biden can’t win the election without women voters. Hillary will play into that. Rest assured that the main focus in the 2024 presidential election will be the abortion issue. Joe Biden became a pro-abortion politician for political expediency a few years ago. For most of his almost 50 years in office, he was a pro-life Democrat. Hillary Clinton is a pro-abortion radical. During her time in her husband’s administration, the slogan was “safe, legal, and rare.” Bill Clinton introduced that language in 1992. Hillary used it in her 2008 campaign for the Democrat primary nomination. Hillary lost that primary race to Barack Obama. She went on to try again in 2016. She won the primary that year but lost the presidential election to her old friend Donald Trump.
Hillary will be one of Joe Biden’s most prominent and visible surrogates. Hillary loves the spotlight so it’s a perfect gig for her.
On the final Monday in November, in a Washington home stately enough to have a name — Whitehaven — members of the Women’s Leadership Forum raised just shy of $1 million for President Joe Biden’s re-election effort. Their host: Hillary Clinton.
Two weeks earlier, Clinton published an op-ed in The Atlantic that forcefully made the case for Biden’s approach to the Israel-Hamas war, putting her credibility on the line as progressives demanded a cease-fire. And two weeks before that, at a Columbia University panel on the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Clinton shut down a heckler who asked her to comment on Biden’s “warmongering.”
C’mon. Hillary’s bona fides as a former secretary of state are considered an asset for Biden. Really? Does anyone remember Benghazi? What real success does she have to point to from her time in that role? She did set a record for the most air miles, so I guess there’s that. She flew a lot but has nothing to show for it.
Bill Clinton popped into the fundraiser she held in their Washington home. Look for him to do more of that as the campaign rolls on. He recently filled in as a Biden surrogate in a meeting with Argentina’s President-elect Javier Milej. Bden didn’t meet with him.
The same day Hillary Clinton raised money for Biden, her husband sat down to lunch in New York with Argentina’s President-elect, Javier Milei, and former Sen. Chris Dodd, who is Biden’s special adviser for the Americas. In doing so, Bill Clinton served as a high-profile surrogate for Biden, who did not meet with Milei. Dodd checked in with the White House before the lunch to go over discussion points, and Bill Clinton alerted the State Department that he would be meeting with Milei, said people familiar with the lunch.
“I don’t know of a couple that could be any more helpful to President Biden than the Clintons,” said Tom Daschle, a former Senate Democratic leader. “They have an enormous level of support and admiration within the Democratic Party.”
“You’ve had politicians over the years say that every election is the most important election in our lifetimes,” Daschle continued. “This is literally the most important election in all of American history. The stakes have never been this high. Everyone feels the need to do their part to ensure that we get through the next 14 months.”
Barack Obama will join the roster of high-profile Democrats supporting Biden. It’s all hands on deck.
Clinton’s re-emergence is emblematic of a larger Democratic effort to more fully deploy high-profile allies in Biden’s re-election fight, according to two people familiar with his campaign’s effort. While Obama has appeared in fundraising videos for Biden, some Democrats would like him to be more visible on the campaign trail and use his formidable star power to give Biden a much-needed boost.
“We are very eager to get our surrogates engaged,” one of the people said, pointing specifically to the Clintons and former first couple Barack and Michelle Obama as figures who can gin up excitement for a Biden candidacy that could use more of it.
We are still not rid of Hillary and her cackling laugh. Imagine Hillary and Kamala laughing together. If the 2024 election is between Biden and Trump again and Trump wins, will she deny the results as she did in 2016 when Trump beat her?
