We need to talk about Commander because the situation is ruff

There’s a workplace safety problem at the White House and it’s Joe Biden’s dog, Commander. Commander bit a Secret Service officer on Monday. This is the 11th such biting incident that has been reported to the public.

Judicial Watch has a list of dates that Commander bit Biden’s protectors. In 2022, the dates are October 3, 5, 26, November 3, 10, 14, and December 11, 16, 23. In 2023, there are two dates – January 2 and September 25. Does anyone believe the large gap between January 2 and September 25? No? Me, either.

The German shepherd has issues, to say the least, against Secret Service officers. German shepherds are protective of their humans but this is not acceptable. The officer had to receive medical treatment.

“Yesterday around 8 p.m., a Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer came in contact with a First Family pet and was bitten,” Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said Tuesday in a statement. “The officer was treated by medical personnel on complex.”

One Secret Service officer was so badly bitten on his upper right arm and thigh last November that he had to be hospitalized. He had to use a steel cart to protect himself from an even more intense attack. “Feels like I was in a dog fight lol,” the agent later told a colleague in an email. He did his best to make light of the attack but what if that steel cart wasn’t there to help him fend off Commander?

Commander came to the White House as a puppy in 2021. Ironically, he replaced Major, who had biting issues. Major was sent to live with family friends. I’m here to suggest that Commander go join Major or go to other friends of the Biden family who are willing to take in a bitey German shepherd. I don’t like suggesting a family dog live elsewhere, as I’m a dog (and cat) person, but this is the only solution to this problem.

I’d be interested to know who else has been bitten by Commander at the White House. The dog is responsible for workplace safety issues. I’m not blaming Commander because dogs do as they are allowed to do and he is being allowed to terrorize the Secret Service officers and others. The blame goes to his owners. Joe and Jill Biden are responsible.

Commander was a gift from Biden, Inc.’s James Biden, Joe’s brother, and sister-in-law Sara Biden. Maybe Commander could go back to them.

Elizabeth Alexander, a spokeswoman for first lady Jill Biden, on Wednesday reiterated her statement from July that the Bidens are working to address the issue. She declined to specify what steps the family has taken.

“As we’ve noted before, the White House can be a stressful environment for family pets, and the First Family continues to work on ways to help Commander handle the often unpredictable nature of the White House grounds,” Alexander said in a statement. “The President and First Lady are incredibly grateful to the Secret Service and Executive Residence staff for all they do to keep them, their family, and the country safe.”

Sorry, Liz. That is an unacceptable answer. The Bidens are showing no respect for the Secret Service and other employees at the White House. They don’t care that Commander is biting people, sending some to the hospital and for medical treatment there at the White House. If they did care about those who protect them and work for them, they would have fixed the problem.

The reason that Commander cannot continue living with Joe Biden is because Biden will have Secret Service protection the rest of his life. The Secret Service will remain targets of Commander’s aggression. He has to go to another home.

Going to another home is part of the answer. He also has to be trained by a professional. He continues to bite even after allegedly he has been to a trainer. It hasn’t worked. Sending him back to the same trainer won’t work.

As I said, this is a workplace safety issue.

Secret Service agents do not handle the Bidens’ dogs, but they often come into contact with first family pets.

“This isn’t a Secret Service thing. This is a this is a workplace safety issue,” former USSS agent Jonathan Wackrow told CNN.

He continued: “There’s uniqueness here where it’s the residence of the president of the United States, but it’s also the workplace for hundreds, thousands of people. And you can’t bring a hazard into the workplace. And that’s what is essentially happening with this dog. One time you can say it’s an accident, but now multiple incidents, it’s a serious issue.”

While it surely isn’t Biden’s fault that his dogs have biting issues, it is his responsibility as a pet parent to prevent future incidents.

As Wackrow told CNN, “I’m sure that the Bidens love the dog. I’m sure that it’s a member of the family like every dog is, but you’re creating a significant hazard to those who support you – support the office of the president.”

Wackrow is being diplomatic. It IS Biden’s fault. He is the one who has to stop it. Jill Biden has to step in and do it because Biden is incapable of doing much these days. He may not have been told of Commander’s issues.
