It's official: The US-Mexico border is the deadliest in the world

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) made it official – the U.S.-Mexico border is the world’s deadliest land migration route. It documented 686 deaths and disappearances among migrants last year.

The actual number is probably higher but there is missing data. Hundreds are losing their lives and going missing as they attempt to cross the border in perilous conditions.

A total of 1,457 fatalities were recorded along migration routes in the Americas in 2022 – marking the deadliest year on record in the region since at least 2014, when the agency first started documenting deaths and disappearances.

Of these, 566 deaths occurred in North America, 483 in Central America, 350 in the Caribbean and 58 in South America.

In 2022, 686 migrant deaths, including 105 females, 468 males and 29 minors, were recorded at the US-Mexico border crossing.

This does not include figures from the Texas border county coroner’s offices and the Mexican search and rescue agency.

It is hard to believe that Joe Biden has deliberately allowed the southern border to deteriorate into this condition. Yet, here we are. The deadly part of the equation isn’t too surprising, given that drug cartels and human traffickers control portions of the border with impunity.

Yesterday alone, there were 9,100 migrant encounters at the U.S. border.

The Border Patrol union says the quiet part out loud – there is no border as conditions stand now.

The number of arrests along the Mexico border in August was more than 177,000. That is an increase from 132,652 in July and 99,539 in June. The trend is going back up, as was predicted, despite the Biden administration’s declarations that migration is down and their policies are working to secure the border. The largest increases are in family groups. That group has increased by 30% for two consecutive months. It’s the first time during Biden’s presidency that families are the biggest demographic crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

The number of family units in August bring the total number of illegal migrants to more than half a million people. The increase of children traveling adults coming into the U.S. shows that families are not heeding Biden’s warnings to not cross the border. Let’s face it, no one listens to Joe Biden. He is a very weak leader and that is how the rest of the world sees him.

The truth is that Biden’s border policies have been a disaster and have created a humanitarian crisis. These deaths show how deadly knowledge of a porous U.S. border can be. The migrants are not listening to Joe Biden. They are coming as long as they know that nothing will happen to them. Most will be allowed to remain in the United States. The increase in families is probably a nod to the fact that families are rarely turned away. Children with adults is a winning combo to be allowed to remain in the United States.
