Abbott and DeSantis are right - transporting illegal aliens to sanctuary cities works

Migrant bus number twelve arrived in Los Angeles from Texas on Monday. The passengers were illegal aliens from 11 families. There were a total of 42, including 21 children. They came from Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Russia, according to L.A. Welcomes Collective.

Sanctuary city Mayor Karen Bass said the city will continue to work with local departments, the county, nonprofits, and faith leaders to provide for the illegal aliens using a plan set up earlier this year. They have been given medical attention, legal aid, and help in reuniting with family members in Southern California. Sounds good, right? Los Angeles is working its plan on handling illegal aliens arriving in the sanctuary city from a border state overwhelmed with them. Nonetheless, the Los Angeles City Council is looking into suing Governor Abbott and Texas to stop the buses from coming to Los Angeles.

The truth is that Governor Abbott was right to start bussing illegal aliens to sanctuary cities in a last-ditch attempt to get the attention of the Biden administration. Abbott began the Operation Lone Star initiative in March 2021 as the Biden border crisis continued to grow with no end in sight. The crisis began on Biden’s first day in office. He ended the policies and agreements used by the previous administration with the stroke of his pen, signing into effect executive orders. The word quickly got out that the border was open and illegal migrants would not be turned away. The rest is history.

Make no mistake, it wasn’t just Democrats who were accusing Governor Abbott of political stunts with the migrant buses. It was also some Republicans. For example, Kari Lake trashed Governor Abbott a year ago this month over the migrant buses.

I hope Republican voters remember that disgraceful move by Lake if she runs for office again. She behaves as an opportunist, not a serious political leader. Arizona is another border state with overwhelming problems because of illegal immigration. You’d think she’d know better than to side with the open borders crowd. Let her run as a Democrat next time.

Governor Abbott and former Arizona Governor Ducey were right to begin the migrant buses going to sanctuary cities. Governor DeSantis has joined in the operation. It’s working. Sanctuary cities virtue-signal that they welcome everyone, regardless of legal status. That is, until buses arrive and the mayors have to walk the walk. Suddenly there is not room in these big cities for forty or so illegal aliens every so often. There are cries for federal funding. There are calls for meetings with Biden and DHS. Welcome to the party, pals.

Who better to let the president and DHS Secretary Mayorkas know that the Biden border crisis is unsustainable and must be put to a stop than other Democrats? They won’t listen to Governor Abbott because he is a successful Republican governor. Abbott has been slapped down by Biden and his administration at every turn. DOJ is suing Abbott to take down his buoy barrier in the Rio Grande River now. Abbott has been left on his own to secure the Texas border with Mexico. When he does act, the Biden administration does all it can to shut him down. The Biden border crisis is intentional.

Reality bites. The bleeding heart liberals and progressives who call conservatives racists and xenophobes for insisting on secure borders are quickly realizing their errors. The Governor of Massachusetts called up the National Guard to help with their illegal alien arrivals.

The number of families illegally crossing the southern border is up. It’s at an all-time high. Families are usually allowed to remain in the country. The Biden administration is loathe to send unaccompanied minors and families back to their home country.

For all the anger from open borders advocates and the Biden administration toward Governor Abbott for doing what he can to secure the Texas border, migrants are simply skirting the buoy barrier in the Rio Grande River. They go to a spot where the border is compromised, past the barrier, and cross the river. Then they go to a Border Patrol agent when they are on Texas soil and make an asylum claim. The illegal migrants say the opportunity of jobs and schools for their children is worth the chance they take crossing the Rio Grande River.

Immigrant rights groups say they are aware of the obstacles Texas has placed on foreign nationals coming in between ports of entry. They say those efforts spearheaded by Gov. Greg Abbott have failed to stop the migrants despite $5 billion spent in the past two years.

“Billions and billions of dollars can be spent building barrier after barrier (and) it’s not going to tame these immigrants that want a better life for themselves and their families,” said Jesse Fuentes, a board member of the Eagle Pass Border Coalition advocacy group. “They’ve traveled for hundreds, thousands of miles. Do you think a little barrier is going to hold them back?”

Do these illegal immigration apologists think the solution is just to accept that millions have crossed the border during Biden’s term in office and allow it to continue? Governor Abbott has made it clear that he does not plan to stop. Texas taxpayers have spent billions on Operation Lone Star. The migrant buses and the buoy barrier are both part of that initiative. Immigration is a top issue with Texas voters. As things are going, I look for immigration to be an important issue with voters all over the country in 2024. Every state is a border state since the Biden administration has placed illegal aliens in every Congressional district in the country.
