Governor Abbott: Every state is a border state in Biden's America. Send help.

Governor Abbott is frequently heard reminding all that every state is a border state in Biden’s America. Because the Biden border crisis is so massive and impossible to control, illegal aliens have been bussed or flown into every state by DHS and are now in every congressional district. The Biden border crisis is intentional.

Tuesday, Abbott sent a letter to his fellow governors asking for help in handling the constant stream of illegal migrants crossing into Texas now that Title 42 has expired. He requested support through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact. That compact allows states to provide assistance and share resources with other states in response to a disaster or emergency.

The letters state that Texas is doing more than its fair share in trying to control the southern border and take care of the needs of those migrants apprehended. The state also has to provide border communities with resources to handle their burden.

“The flood of illegal border activity invited by the Biden Administration flows directly across the southern border into Texas communities, but this crisis does not stop in our state,” reads the letter. “In the federal government’s absence, we, as Governors, must band together to combat President Biden’s ongoing border crisis and ensure the safety and security that all Americans deserve. The Emergency Management Assistance Compact empowers states to provide assistance to one another in times of disaster or emergency, both of which accurately describe the current border crisis. Join us in the mission to defend our national sovereignty and territorial integrity and send all available law enforcement personnel and resources to the Texas-Mexico border to serve alongside our thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.”

In his letters, Governor Abbott highlighted the Texas taxpayer dollars the State of Texas has already allocated for border security operations along the Texas-Mexico border and requested his fellow Governors also help provide funding for their state’s border security response. Texas has spent more than $4.5 billion since 2021 on critical border security operations, with the Texas Legislature currently looking to fund an additional $4.6 billion for the next two years. However, the Governor noted that Texas should not have to shoulder the financial burden of protecting our nation alone.

Governor Abbott also thanked the states of Idaho and Florida, which have recently stepped up to offer assistance in securing the southern border with law enforcement support and assets.

Several states have helped in past months when Governor Abbott has asked for help. That cooperation is greatly appreciated by the governor and Texans. No state should have to be in this Biden-made struggle on its own. Every day, there are thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers working to protect the border. It is a battle for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Already states like Idaho have stepped up to help fill in the dangerous gaps created by President Biden’s failed open border policies. Last week, Idaho Governor Brad Little announced the deployment of a team of Idaho State Police personnel to support Texas’ border security efforts in a monthlong mission to prevent the smuggling of people and illicit drugs like fentanyl into America. The State of Florida has also offered resources, such as hundreds of Florida National Guard soldiers and law enforcement officers, as well as assets like drone technology. I thank these states for proactively addressing this crisis and request other states follow their lead inhelping to secure America’s border.

To recap, Governor Abbott has put in effort above and beyond what one governor should have to do because of the negligence and dereliction of duty by the president in his obligation to secure the country’s borders. The governor does not have carte blanche – immigration and border security are federal issues.

Biden, Kamala, DHS Sec. Mayorkas, and other prominent Democrats are prematurely doing a victory lap since apprehensions of migrants crossing illegally into the United States have dropped, not risen, since Title 42 expired. That response ignores the fact that apprehensions had risen to 10,000 per day in the days before May 11. So, even if they have fallen by half, that is still 5,000 illegal migrants per day along the southern border. It shows how out of touch Washington, D.C. is with what is happening on the border.

Mass releases continue in order to relieve overcrowding in shelters. Illegal aliens are camped out on the streets of El Paso. Governor Abbott has resumed bussing illegal aliens to sanctuary cities out of state. Large groups of migrants from countries around the world have been apprehended this week. There is nothing to celebrate.
