Marjorie Taylor Greene: Republicans should not protest potential Trump arrest

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, recommends that Trump fans don’t protest his potential arrest by New York DA Alvin Bragg. She said Republicans don’t need to protest the possible potential arrest of Trump because it can backfire on the “communist Democrats.”

Taylor Green argued on Twitter that Trump’s Truth Social posts can stand on their own from the former president without protests from Trump supporters. She called out the DOJ and the Manhattan DA for turning the investigation into Trump’s potential arrest for paying off Stormy Daniels into “ALL FOR POLITICS.”

“This is what they do in communist(s) countries to destroy their political opponents!” Greene wrote. “Republicans in Congress MUST subpoena these communists and END this! We have the power to do it, and we also have the power to DEFUND their salaries and departments! Enough of this!”

She went on to say that Trump’s request for his supporters to protest his arrest and “take our nation back” is unnecessary as she blames “communist Democrats” or “political weaponization.”

“These idiots are sealing their own fate in 2024 because the silent majority has two feelings right now about the current regime,” Greene wrote. “Fear and anger” are consuming the silent majority. Fear and anger are being driven by Democrats and their corrupt actions against Trump.

Despite the fact that MTG is usually a person who is happy to toss grenades against Democrats, she understands in this instance that Trump’s call for protests is not productive, certainly not for Trump supporters. Trump counts on calling on protests to distract from his potential arrest. He will use any protests that emerge to keep his story in the news. And, he will fundraise off it but in the long run, it reminds voters of the January 6 riot and Trump’s refusal to move on from the 2020 presidential election.

This is one time I agree with MTG. It will be counterproductive for Trump supporters to protest his indictment and arrest if it happens. Why should Trump supporters play into the hands of Trump-deranged Democrats and NeverTrumpers? MTG has endorsed Trump’s 2024 run for president and she likely hopes that she will be chosen as his running mate if he is the GOP’s nominee. I have to admit it is interesting that she is choosing moderation at this point from Trump.

Democrats have reacted to New York DA Bragg’s actions against Trump. His calls for protests give the usual people, like Nancy Pelosi, a reason to lodge criticism of Trump.

“The former president’s announcement this morning is reckless: doing so to keep himself in the news & to foment unrest among his supporters,” tweeted Pelosi, the former House speaker. “He cannot hide from his violations of the law, disrespect for our elections and incitements to violence. Rightfully, our legal system will decide how to hold him accountable.”

It is ironic that people like Pelosi now like to say that no one is above the law when it comes to prosecuting Trump. For example, she and her husband have made millions of dollars thanks to her inside trading information. No one has held her accountable.

Hakeem Jeffries also weighed in but didn’t specifically name Trump.

Hakeem describes a democracy, not our constitutional republic. Trump called for protests, not specifically political violence. The actions of January 6 turned into a riot. Protests are permitted under the First Amendment, riots are not. I don’t remember Jeffries and Pelosi condemning the riots during the Summer of Love in 2020. The irony is rich coming from Democrats.

MTG is right. Avoiding protests and letting Trump handle DA Bragg is the way to go. This will backfire on Democrats and it will help Trump, who will claim victimization.
