Air Marshals to Biden: Stop 'demolishing our chances to stop another 9/11'

The executive director of the Air Marshal National Council has a message for the Biden administration. She warns that air travel is becoming less safe because air marshals are being diverted to the border.

Sonia Labosco called on the Biden administration to stop sending air marshals to the U.S-Mexico border on Monday. She asked that they be returned to their regular duties patrolling commercial flights. She’s worried about another 9/11 type of terrorist attack.

“We have been decimated. We have been depleted. We’re on less than 1% of flights. These ground-based duties that they’re pulling us out of the sky to go to the border are just demolishing our chances at stopping another 9/11.”

She said that Americans may believe that they are safe in the presence of a trained air marshal but “they’re just simply not.” They are trained to patrol the skies, not the southern border. The marshals are torn about being moved to the border. A letter has been written to Biden but there has been no response.

“They have a humanitarian heart. We empathize with what’s happening at the border as human beings. However, it does not take away the responsibility or the oath that we have as air marshals to protect our aviation domain.”

“We actually wrote him another letter over the weekend because we had a level four and a level three incident. Level four means that they tried to breach the cockpit. Level three, we had two of those, which means there were life-threatening behaviors on one of those aircraft. An individual had a straight razor to a passenger’s throat. So these are very serious incidents.”

Over the weekend, you say? Sorry, Biden and the fam were too busy shopping and enjoying life at a billionaire pal’s estate on Nantucket to worry about level three or level four incidents. He and his family use Air Force One, they don’t fly commercial. Never mind that the Biden border crisis allows illegal aliens to try to cross the border who are on the terror watch list. Almost 100 people on that list have been apprehended this year. Who knows how many are included in the gotaway category?

The Air Marshals are a branch of the Transport Security Administration (TSA). Moving Air Marshals to the border now, during the busy holiday travel season, is particularly troubling to Labosco. Just two weeks ago, DHS Secretary Mayorkas testified before Congress and insisted that the southern border is secure.

Last month, Judicial Watch reported that Air Marshals were being transferred to the southern border to help deal with the unprecedented surge of “irregular migration” due to the Biden border crisis. DHS sent a memo via email to the Air Marshals telling them that they would be sent to “protect the life and safety of federal personnel.” The TSA was created after the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01 and its responsibility is to protect commercial passenger flights by deterring and countering the risk of terrorist activity. The officers are specially trained aviation security specialists.

DHS may have actually admitted there is a crisis on the southern border.

“The nation is experiencing a surge in irregular migration along the Southwest Border (SWB),” the notice to FAM officers states. “The unprecedented volume of Noncitizen Migrants (NCMs) currently apprehended mandates immediate further action to protect the life and safety of federal personnel and noncitizens in CBP [Customs and Border Protection] custody.” This appears to be the first acknowledgment, albeit leaked involuntarily, by the Biden administration that there is indeed a crisis along the nation’s famously porous southern border. “To support its mission, CBP is seeking federal employees from DHS Components and other federal agencies to be placed on reimbursable TDY assignments to assist in critical support functions,” the widely circulated mandate states, adding that “LE/FAMS has been directed by DHS to support this request.”

Of course there is a crisis on the border. Turn on Fox News any day and watch it in real time as one of its reporters interviews those who have waded across the Rio Grande River or walked across land to cross the border, not bothering to do it the legal way at a port of entry. They know they don’t need to do that. They just wait for Border Patrol to pick them up.

The memo exposed the misuse of the Air Marshalls. It lists what their duties will be on the border.

The first wave of FAMs will be dispatched to El Paso, Texas and Yuma, Arizona on October 30 for an October 31 start. Thirty officers and a supervisor will go to El Paso, 15 officers and a supervisor will go to Yuma. “There will be further deployments on TBD dates,” the memo to the nation’s FAM staff reads. It also says that overtime pay for the assignment is “highly likely.” The temporary assignments will consist of 21-day rotations and may be extended for up to 120 days. Here is the important work that the specially trained law enforcement officers will be doing in the southern border rather than their critical duty of protecting commercial planes flagged for terrorist threats. “Hospital Watch, Transportation, Law Enforcement Searches, Entry Control, Security at CBP Facilities and Welfare Checks.”

Specially trained aviation security officers are doing welfare checks and “hospital watch”, along with providing transportation for illegal immigrants. Unreal. They are tasked with babysitting illegal aliens.

Biden’s border crisis is real and it is growing, not shrinking. Law enforcement along the border is bracing for the expected increase of illegal immigrants once Title 42 is completely eliminated. Mayorkas and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris may try to ignore it but this is created on purpose. Otherwise, Biden would do his job and secure the border. He’s chosen to not honor his oath of office to protect America from threats, domestic and foreign. I think an open border falls into that category.
