Hillary Clinton: "The Republican Party and its mouthpieces" must be held accountable for political violence

Hillary Clinton tweeted out her disgust with Republicans and “their mouthpieces” on Saturday, which is nothing new, but this time she is blaming them for acts of political violence in our country. She linked her tweet to an article in the L.A. Times on the deranged nutjob who broke into the Pelosi home in San Francisco and violently attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer.

The Republican Party and its mouthpieces now regularly spread hate and deranged conspiracy theories. It is shocking, but not surprising, that violence is the result. As citizens, we must hold them accountable for their words and the actions that follow.

Elon Musk responded to the tweet this morning with an interesting observation.

Make no mistake about it – the narrative being pushed by the media, especially on the Sunday morning political shows today, is that political violence is due to heated rhetoric or election denial from Republicans. Just so you know, Democrats and people on their side are innocent and have nothing to do with anything bad that happens. That is sarcasm, my friends, because ever since the horrible attack on Paul Pelosi, the media has once again lost its mind. Two prime examples are Chuck Todd on Meet the Press and Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation.

Chuck Todd drilled Governor Chris Sununu (R-NH) for most of the interview over January 6 and election deniers who are on the ballot for the midterm elections. Republican Don Bolduc is challenging Democrat incumbent Senator Maggie Hassan. Bolduc was a candidate who could be described as an election denier during the GOP primary. Then, once he got the nomination and began his general election campaign, he declared he had done a lot of research and no longer denied the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election. His position now is that irregularities happened but not enough to change the results of the election.

The race in New Hampshire between Hassan and Bolduc is now essentially a toss-up. Hassan is running scared, though she has been considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats since the beginning of her campaign for re-election.

Governor Sununu pushed back on Chuck Todd and told him he should have Chuck Schumer on his show and ask him why he put so much money behind Bolduc’s campaign if Democrats are now worried about election deniers being on the ballot. Democrats spent millions of dollars on candidates in GOP primaries thinking they could easily beat them in November over more establishment-friendly GOP candidates. Democrats got what they wanted and now they complain because the “election deniers” are likely to win many of their races.

Sununu also pointed out that Chuck Todd is living in a bubble if he thinks January 6 is a top concern for voters. He said voters are not thinking about 2020, a mistaken notion Democrats continue to believe. Democrats are running on abortion and January 6 and Republicans are running on issues that matter in the lives of voters – inflation, crime, the open southern border, energy prices, high grocery prices, public schools, and the fentanyl crisis. Crisis after crisis has followed Joe Biden’s disastrous agenda. Voters are fed up and ready for change.

Todd asked Sununu if political ads against Nancy Pelosi should be taken down after the attack on her husband. Sununu hedged on that but did say there is no need for violence-inciting political ads. I may sound course here but I think that’s an overreach. Ads against Nancy Pelosi have been a part of political campaigns since she has been Speaker of the House – both times. This is a part of the escalation from the left to shut down Republicans as the people inciting violence. People in both parties have done their share of bad behavior and used language that can be seem as inciting violence, if everyone is honest.

The January 6 riot was wrong, just as the riots that destroyed areas of American cities during the Summer of Love in 2020 by BLM activists and Antifa were wrong. Political protests are fine but once an act of violence occurs, it becomes a riot. It’s as simple as that. Riots are wrong.

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) was asked by an almost unhinged Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation why he used a gun in a tweet he posted. Emmer was saying he exercised his Second Amendment rights and did some target practice with a rifle. At the end of the tweet was a hashtag – #FirePelosi. Brennan quizzed him on why he posted the tweet. He said it wasn’t a campaign ad yet she treated it as though it was. The truth is that there are lots of tweets from gun owners who post pictures of them taking target practice or talking about guns. The hashtag #FirePelosi is often used by conservatives.

Hillary Clinton has done her share to cause political unrest. She denied the results of the 2020 election in speeches and said Trump was an illegitimate president. She is the one who made up the whole Russia, Russia, Russia trope that put Americans through three years of political lies against the sitting president all because he won the election. She is the one who began the original use of the expression “vast right-wing conspiracy” back in 1995 during Bill Clinton’s presidency. Democrats always accuse Republicans of doing what they are doing.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Democrats putting it all on Republicans at this point is out of desperation. They are losing the midterm elections and they know a Republican will likely take the White House in 2024. They are using Paul Pelosi’s attack as a distraction. It’s not going to work. The red wave is coming and it’s going to be spectacular.
