Pew Research Survey shows Biden is not America's most popular world leader

Bad news for Ron Klain, Joe Biden’s chief of staff and premier cheerleader on social media. A new Pew Research Center survey shows that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky holds a greater amount of confidence by Americans than any other world leader. Seventy-two percent of Americans are confident Zelensky will do the right thing regarding world affairs. Biden has the confidence of 48% of Americans in handling world affairs.

Frankly, I’m surprised Biden is at 48%. Who are these people anyway? Even liberal Democrats now posing as moderates in order to win re-election are running away from Biden. Democrats of all stripes are well aware of the mood of Americans coming into the midterm elections and it ain’t good. There is a malaise felt in this country that has not been felt since the bad old days of Jimmy Carter. During the Carter days, we were told to just toss on a cardigan and lower our thermostats to save energy in the winter months. Now, of course, there is a new energy crisis upon us and most of it is at the hands of Joe Biden. Americans go to fill up their gas tanks or pay home energy bills and mutter uncomplimentary things about Joe Biden. He deserves every word of criticism.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is the leader the world needs at this time. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the man is a saint. We know how corrupt Ukraine has been and still has a long way to go. There was hope when Zelensky was elected that the country was on the right path. Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, Zelensky immediately stepped up and embraced his new position in world leadership. To state the obvious, it has been inspiring to watch the man’s strong conviction in defending his country, protecting his fellow Ukrainians, and rallying Western leaders to support him and Ukrainians as they fight for their sovereignty.

The Pew Research Survey results are brutal for Biden. American presidents were once seen as the leader of the free world. Now Joe Biden falls behind Zelensky, French President Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Putin come after Biden. That’s just embarrassing. I was promised the adults would be back in charge and Biden would bring back all the smart people with experience working in the government to turn things around when Biden was elected. What happened to “America’s back!” that Biden loves to say every time he goes overseas?

Americans are not feeling it. Make no mistake, this is all about feelings. Americans don’t feel good about Biden’s actions and aren’t confident he can do the job he was elected to do. He is seen as physically feeble and mentally failing. The likes of Ron Klain can only do so much to cover for Biden. One of the most insulting narratives that has tried to be launched by Biden supporters is that Joe Biden is just like Ronald Reagan. Yes, really. That conflation would be laughable if it were not so insulting to conservatives. There is an opinion piece in the Financial Times today by Edward Luce that tries to make the case and was dutifully tweeted out by Klain.

Yes, Putin is bad but since when did Joe Biden become “a Reagan-style crusader for global freedom”? Biden had to be dragged into committing to giving Zelensky the support he requests and even now that commitment is sorely lagging behind what Biden can do. What about the flip-flop on the MiGs? Biden has been slow to implement meaningful sanctions on Russia and Russian oligarchs.

Has any American truly felt secure that Joe Biden is the right man for this time in history? The debacle of his withdrawal from Afghanistan drove his decline in favorable polling numbers. Americans were shocked by the whole process and the senseless deaths of American service members that occurred due to Biden’s decisions. Nothing has improved. He refuses to attend to the border crisis of his own making. He continues to embarrass us on the international stage every time he goes overseas and proves he is too feeble for the job. Biden delegates to Kamala when he isn’t up to travel and that is even worse.

Zelensky is in sharp contrast to Joe Biden. He’s younger, obviously, but he exhibits a spine of steel and is unwavering in his decision to stay in Ukraine and fight. When Biden offered him transportation out of the country, he declined and asked for ammunition. Are we so confident that Joe Biden would remain in the White House if America came under attack as Ukraine is experiencing? Do we think Biden would strap on a flak vest and walk among troops in a city that was under attack by Russian forces? Biden is the guy who hid in his basement during the pandemic and campaigned from there for the job he has now.

Zelensky is not a career politician and that has a lot to do with his boldness. He is also an entertainer and that has shown in his use of social media and media outlets. He’s everywhere and that helps his cause. The more this brutal war is exposed, the more people rally to Ukraine. Zelensky even made an appearance on the Grammy Awards last weekend. During an appearance on last Sunday’s Face the Nation, he spoke about the genocide happening by Russian forces.

Actor Sean Penn was in Ukraine when Putin invaded the country. He is making a documentary about Zelensky. Since the invasion, Penn has been active in rallying support for Ukraine. He has appeared on both MSNBC and Fox to get his message out.

“It is clear to me that the Ukrainians will win this,” Penn told Fox News. “The question is, at what cost?”

Penn began filming a Ukraine documentary last year, and he met with Zelensky “the day before” Russia invaded. On Fox News, Penn said Zelensky was “born for” leading his country against Russia.

“In him, I saw something that I’ve never seen before in my lifetime,” Penn said, applauding Zelensky’s “extraordinary courage” and calling him the “face of something that you see in all the Ukrainians we saw and talked to.”

Penn also told Fox the Ukrainians are “fighting to win” and that “if this thing is not won,” “our children in America” are going to “feel it in tangible ways in their lives.” On MSNBC, Penn similarly said that if Russia wins the war, “that’s going to come to our doorstep very fast,” though he doesn’t believe this will happen because the Ukrainians are so united.

The courage and strength of the Ukrainian people has been very inspiring. It’s not just Zelensky, it’s the people, too.

Biden is not in a good place with the American public. Poll after poll shows that in every category. I’ll end with noting Barack Obama’s visit to the White House yesterday to commemorate the passage of Obamacare. Joe Biden was essentially ignored by all the Democrats in the room. They were busy flocking around Obama, the cool guy. Grandpa Joe looked lost and confused on stage after the speeches. No one was talking to him. It is a reminder that Biden was elected because voters didn’t want Trump, not because voters liked Biden. He was the not-Trump candidate.
