Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 70th year on the throne this year. Instead of kicking back and enjoying the milestone, she is facing yet another scandal involving a member of her immediate family. What’s a royal monarch got to do to get a little peace and quiet?

In the last year or so, Queen Elizabeth has faced a grandson who decided to move to California and obey the wishes of his Hollywood D-list actress wife instead of being a prince, her husband of almost 74 years passed away and her second-oldest son has been mired in the Epstein Pedophile Island scandals. The Queen had to help Prince Andrew, a.k.a. Randy Andy, buy his way out of that criminal mess. Today the news is that Prince Charles may face questions from police in a “cash for honours” charity probe. The prince’s right-hand man in The Prince’s Foundation seems to be at the center of the latest royal scandal. Michael Fawcett faces allegations that he offered to help a Saudi billionaire donor knighthood and U.K. citizenship in exchange of thousands of pounds in donations to the prince’s favorite charities.

The Sunday Times newspaper reported in September that a Saudi businessman had received an award after paying thousands of pounds towards projects strongly supported by Charles, with the assistance of the prince’s aides.

In November, Michael Fawcett, right-hand man to Prince Charles for decades, stepped down from his role running the royal’s charity The Prince’s Foundation.

“The Special Enquiry Team has conducted the assessment process which has included contacting those believed to hold relevant information…The assessment determined an investigation will commence,” London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Was Charles in on delivering a path to U.K. citizenship for the Saudi businessman? Knighthoods are frequently doled out in recognition of philanthropic work. There are such things as honorary knighthoods for non-citizens but those are usually reserved for people like presidents. This Saudi man is a businessman, apparently a wealthy one. The prince isn’t talking. “The Prince of Wales had no knowledge of the alleged offer of honours or British citizenship on the basis of donation to his charities.” That statement came from a spokesperson.

Police have met with The Prince’s Foundation about the findings of an independent investigation into fundraising practices. The foundation had provided a number of documents. There have been no arrests. Police took action after receiving a letter from a former MP and an anti-monarchy group reported Prince Charles and Fawcett. The notes said that police should investigate both men for violating the Honours Act 1925. Former Lib Dem MP Norman Baker wrote one of the complaints.

It is alleged that Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz donated thousands of pounds to The Prince’s Foundation. The claim by Charles that he knows nothing about any arrangement made in exchange for donations may be complicated by that fact that he held private meetings with Mahfouz.

It was alleged that he paid thousands of pounds to ‘fixers’ with links to the prince who said they could secure him an honour in return for donations.

Clarence House has denied Charles knew anything about the allegations being investigated.

But he could still prove to be a vital witness, as he held private meetings with Dr Mahfouz at the British embassy in Saudi Arabia, in London and Scotland.

Dr Mahfouz received his CBE during a private ceremony at Clarence House in 2016 with Charles and Camilla.

The police probe was announced just hours after the settlement between Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre was announced. Not a great day for Buckingham Palace.

There has been concern for the Queen’s health after both Charles and Camilla tested positive for COVID-19. She was seen going maskless, though during an in-person meeting with the outgoing Defence Services Secretary Rear Admiral James Macleod and his replacement, Major General Eldon Millar, at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. She did use a cane, as she has done since last October. She uses one that was Prince Philip’s. Mask mandates in England and Northern Ireland have ended except in high-risk settings like hospitals and public transportation. The Queen is a tough old bird and likely doesn’t see herself as a high risk.

It was announced this week that the Queen wants Camilla to be crowned as Queen Consort when Charles takes the throne. They will be crowned side by side during a scaled-back coronation. ceremony at Westminster Abbey

Their coronation will be within a year of Charles’s accession. It is part of ‘Operation Golden Orb’. The ceremony will be “shorter, sooner, smaller, less expensive and more representative of different community groups and faiths”. Good Lord. It sounds like a woke coronation, doesn’t it? Charles is such a wienie. Long live Queen Elizabeth.
