Ho, ho, ho: Biden tells DNC donors, "We're going to win in 2022."

The DNC held its Christmas, er, holiday party Tuesday night. A crowd of about 400 Democrats, mostly wealthy donors, listened to a pep talk from the president about the 2022 midterm elections. “Now we look at 2022 – I want to tell my Republican friends, get ready pal, you’re in for a problem.”

If his happy talk to the people he is counting on to fill the coffers of Democrat candidates in 2022 sounds delusional, it is because it is delusional. At this point, Biden’s approval numbers are dismal, as are those of Kamala, and Democrats are bracing for a red tsunami next November. Biden delivered a ten-minute speech to the partygoers and slammed Republicans for not going along with his trillion-dollar schemes using taxpayer money. President Unity trashed Republicans for not supporting the For the People Act and nationalizing elections, as he called them unpatriotic and unAmerican. Merry Christmas, GOP!

‘The right to vote is under unrelenting assault by Republican governors, attorney generals, secretaries of state, state legislators. They’re following my predecessor deep into the abyss,’ Biden said.

‘The struggle is no longer just who gets to vote or make it easy for eligible people to vote. It’s about who gets to count the vote – whether your vote counts at all.

‘It’s a sinister combination of voter suppression and election subversion. It’s un-American, it’s undemocratic, it’s unpatriotic and sadly, it is not unprecedented now.’

Biden said the GOP was ‘afraid even just to debate the bill.’

‘This battle’s not over, this door is not closed, we have to keep up the fight and get it done because our democracy depends on it,’ the president warned.

The problem with putting all the blame on Republicans for not supporting the voter rights legislation is that there are moderate Democrats who are not on board either. The House passed the For the People Act last March. The vote was 220-210, with one Democrat joining all Republicans in voting against it. In the Senate, Republicans have been holding up the bill in opposition. As the New York Times described the bill, it is reasonable for Republicans to shut it down as long as they can do so. “The Democrats’ voting rights bill would usher in the largest federally mandated expansion of voting rights since the 1960s, ban partisan gerrymandering of congressional districts, force super PACs to disclose their big donors and create a new public campaign financing system.” The bill is a reaction to Republican-led states’ efforts to update voting laws to preserve election integrity.

Biden’s angry old man tone surfaced as he said Republicans aren’t for anything. ‘We know what we’re for. But Republicans don’t seem to be for anything. Name me something they are for – they’re against everything,’ Biden said derisively. That hyperbole is rich coming from a career politican who well knows that the majority sets the agenda and the loyal opposition pushes back.

The president’s choice for his biggest regret was a revealing one. He regrets not being able to grant wealthy Democrat donors as much access to the White House as he’d hoped to do. Biden’s been so corrupt for so long that he probably doesn’t even realize how regular people view rewarding big donations with access to the White House.

Earlier during his speech Biden thanked donors and Democratic officials, telling them his ‘biggest regret’ was not granting them as much White House access as he’d hoped in his first year in office.

‘It’s a genuine regret, we haven’t had the chance to personally thank so many of you who broke your neck for us, broke your neck for us when things didn’t look good at all,’ Biden said.

Biden referred to Kamala’s husband as “the First Gentleman”, which was awkwardly wrong. Kamala (and Jill) may be running the show behind the scenes but she’s not officially the president.

Kamala cackled through her speech. “As Democrats, we stand for the people,” his VP Kamala Harris said in her own speech. “And we will fight for the people.” That is funny. By “the people” she means Democrats fight for more power in Washington to dictate to the rest of the country.

San Fran Gran was there, fist-pumping her bony hand in the air as she tried to reassure the guests that Biden is the “perfect” person to be in charge right now.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also spoke at the event and praised Biden as the ‘perfect’ president to handle the inflation crisis and pandemic.

‘Our country could not be better served than with this most experienced and capable hands than yours, President Biden,’ she told the crowd. ‘He’s just perfect. The timing couldn’t be better.’

The party was held outdoors at the Hotel Washington due to coronavirus concerns and the omicron variant. Hours after the party for the big donors, Biden took time to acknowledge the 800,000 COVID deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

‘As we head into the winter and confront a new variant, we must resolve to keep fighting this virus together. This means getting vaccinated and getting your booster shot, and taking other prevention measures, such as masking,’ Biden wrote in the statement released by the White House.

‘As we mark the tragic milestone of 800,000 American deaths due to COVID-19, we remember each person and the lives they lived, and we pray for the loved ones left behind.

‘I know what it’s like to stare at an empty chair around the kitchen table, especially during the holiday season, and my heart aches for every family enduring this pain.’

You can contrast that statement with this:

The RNC pushed back on Biden’s claim to the crowd that the BBB legislation won’t raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000.

And no one knows what he is saying here:

Biden is delusional. The Democrats will take a beating in the midterms and he has himself to blame. He is dragging Democrat candidates down. It’s already beginning. Democrats are turning up to vote for Republicans in deep blue areas like south Texas, for example. His failures aren’t the fault of Republicans.
