Because, of course, he did. It’s the Obama administration all over again. Joe Biden made his trip to Glasgow for the COP 26 gathering of climate change alarmists into an apology tour. After admitting that he should not do so, he apologized for the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords during the Trump administration.
“I guess I shouldn’t apologize, but I do apologize for the fact the United States in the last administration pulled out of the Paris accords and put us sort of behind the eight ball a little bit,” Biden said during a session on “action and solidarity” at the United Nations climate conference in Glasgow.
This is what is particularly obnoxious with Biden’s behavior as president. He’s a lifelong politician, an old politician with about 50 years in the D.C. swamp under his belt, who knows that he’s wrong in making an apology during a world summit. He doesn’t care, though, because it is too important to him that he’s one of the club – the foreign leaders. He has tried since 1988 to be president and he’s determined to prove he’s one of them. He’s happy with other countries setting the agenda, he just wants to fit in.
Biden’s biggest motivation in governing is to do the opposite of whatever Trump did. Since day one of his administration, Biden has governed as the anti-Trump. He rejoined the Paris climate deal that was never ratified by Congress in the first days of his administration. He did the same with the disastrous Iranian nuclear agreement produced by the Obama administration. Biden is Obama’s third term, only more aggressively socialist in action.
The truth is that without willing partners in China and Russia, there will be no big progress made if you’re inclined to believe that modern life is producing changes in the atmosphere that affect our weather patterns. If you think it’s a great idea to cut manufacturing and production of goods to accomplish greenhouse emissions limits, then Joe Biden is your guy. He mouths the delusional rhetoric that green energy – any alternative to fossil fuel production at all – is the only way to go, though the United States will not see that happening for decades, if ever. An all-of-the-above approach to energy production is not acceptable to the leave-it-in-the-gound activists. Fossil fuels have allowed the United States and other countries in the world to flourish. Without electricity and energy, we’d be back in pre-Industrial Revolution America.
Biden asked that other world economies “do their part.” He’s fond of that phrase. That’s what Biden says when he begs for higher taxes on successful Americans that turn into taxes on all levels of income. He’s happy to commit American dollars to whatever scheme the likes of John Kerry is promoting in Glasgow this week.
“The United States, if I have anything to do with it, will do our part,” Biden said. “Our success in my view hinges on our collective commitment to ramping up our momentum and strengthening our climate ambition.”
“There’s no more time to hang back or sit on the fence or argue amongst ourselves,” Biden said in earlier remarks at the summit on Monday. “This is the challenge of our collective lifetimes. The existential threat to human existence as we know it.”
Too bad Biden wasn’t so concerned about the “existential threat to human existence” that radical Islamic terrorism poses to our existence when he jerked the U.S. military out of Afghanistan so quickly and incompetently that he failed to notify our allies ahead of time and he left thousands of American citizens and Afghan helpers behind.
Biden and the Democrats can’t even get their climate alarmist agenda passed in the Senate. Somehow he thinks he’ll lead the way on the international stage. What a joke. He’s been exposed for rank hypocrisy about carbon footprints as he traveled to the G20 and to COP 26. He brought 16 members of his cabinet along, plus their entourages and assistants. Motorcades of many vehicles move him from place to place. Jill Biden didn’t accompany him to Scotland. She remained in Italy and is taking her own plane home, using even more jet fuel. The rules of conservation are for the little people, you know.
Mostly, Biden is eager to commit American dollars to his international dreams. He can’t, of course, as that is the job of the House to provide funding, and nothing he is talking about has been voted on. The two “frameworks” presented by Team Biden will require billions of dollars from American taxpayers.
Biden spoke with other world leaders at a convention hall in downtown Glasgow where roughly 20,000 delegates — a mix of scientists, activists, governmental employees, heads of state and members of the media — waited in line for hours to pass through security checkpoints.
The White House laid the groundwork for Biden’s address to have added impact with the release on Monday morning of two frameworks for future American climate action: “President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience” (PREPARE) and “The Long-Term Strategy of the United States: Pathways to Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2050.”
Let’s hope this is the last time Biden embarrasses us on this trip abroad. History tells us it will not be. In case you missed it, I’ll leave you with this from yesterday. Biden actually used a reference to Mussolini in Rome and the cringe is palpable.
Using a phrase closely associated with Benito Mussolini -in Rome- is genius-level diplomacy. https://t.co/pRZQsRRkZD
