Did Lori Loughlin's YouTube daughter know of her parents' plan to bribe college?

Another nugget of news has trickled out from the Operation Varsity Blues scandal. It turns out that actress Lori Loughlin’s YouTube star daughter Olivia Jade probably knew about her parent’s involvement in what is now a nationwide college admissions scandal but is only mad that they got caught. She went along with the plan because she didn’t think they’d be caught. (emphasis mine)

“Olivia is still distraught and embarrassed. She hasn’t been home much,” a source tells PEOPLE of the popular YouTuber. “She is very angry with her parents. She just wants to figure out how she can rebuild her brand.”

Olivia Jade, who was vocal about her indifferent attitude toward school before the scandal broke, “blames her parents for everything,” the source adds.

“She would have never gone along with it if she thought this would happen. Her thing is that she trusted her parents,” the source says. “Olivia spends most of her time with close friends and her boyfriend.” (She is dating model/musician Jackson Guthry.)

Not much has been written about the students caught up in this web of deceit as the real headlines have revolved around the Hollywood parents and wealthy business sector parents. That is probably a good thing because kids’ lives have been forever changed by this scandal. The disclosure that Olivia Jade was cc’d in emails between her parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli and college admissions counselor Rick Singer lands her in the middle of the whole thing.

Previously, court documents outlined how Loughlin and Giannulli sent photos of their daughters on ergometers as part of their applications to the University of Southern California, despite the fact that neither child had ever rowed competitively. Jade was also cc’ed on emails with her parents and Rick Singer, who co-founded and operated the college counseling company. She and her sister would ultimately get into USC as crew team recruits.

Rightfully, Olivia Jade is now freaking out about the demise of her very lucrative career as a YouTube “Influencer”, a person who cashes in on a large social media following by giving good reviews on products or places of business. Olivia Jade, for example, has 1.4 million followers on Instagram She has 1.9 million subscribers on YouTube. Her last video was posted 3 weeks ago. So, when the scandal erupted and her parents were making all the headlines, Olivia Jade’s contracts with major sponsors began to dry up. Companies don’t want to be associated with cheaters, especially when marketing to a young audience. Her last photo posted on Instagram was five weeks ago. Her estimated net worth is $400,000, which is unimaginable to most 19-year-old people (and their parents).

She is, naturally, determined to find a way to continue on with her career in social media.

The source adds: “Olivia had her own life and business. She was always very driven and worked very hard to achieve what she had. This was her passion. She was honest about that she didn’t really care about school. But her business, she was always very serious about. She most certainly will find a way to start over again. She isn’t someone that gives up easily.”

Olivia Jade is dealing with her anger toward her parents as most young people would by simply not being at home very much. She’s spending time with her boyfriend, also normal for a 19-year-old. She doesn’t plan to go back to school which isn’t a shock. She said all along that she wasn’t interested in going to school. Now she’s afraid she will have to testify against her mother in court and that her parents may be headed to jail. (emphasis mine)

“She feels that she has already been through enough embarrassment over this situation and a court appearance would make things ten times worse,” our source continued. “She wants it all to come to a quick conclusion so everyone can move on. “Olivia has been hiding out with friends and can’t stand the thought of her mom or dad [fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, 55] going to prison over this mess and she for sure does not want to be dragged into court. She feels like she is living in a horrible nightmare.”

Olivia’s mom Lori, as well as Felicity Huffman, 56, made their initial appearance in a Boston federal courthouse on April 3 for their charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. The judge said she will not impose any restrictions on communication between the defendants and their children but she would “admonish” them to discuss what obstruction of justice means because the children could be witnesses to the case. A rep for Olivia Jade had no comment.

Hey, how is Isabella Rose, age 20, doing these days? She’s the daughter we don’t read anything about because she isn’t carving out a career for herself on social media. Well, she seems to be hanging in there with her parents and was photographed hugging her mom while running some errands together on Saturday.

Accused college scammer Lori Loughlin got a hug of support from daughter Isabella Rose while the two waited for a valet attendant after running errands in Beverly Hills Saturday.
