De Blasio disses Fox News, Murdoch for dividing Americans

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio blamed conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch for the election of President Trump. I think he’s got it backward.  The socialists of the Democratic Party like Bill de Blasio and the status quo Republicans gave America President Trump.

Tuesday de Blasio said that Fox News and Rupert Murdoch are responsible for the suffering and divisiveness in America right now.

In fact, De Blasio argues: “If you could remove News Corp from the last 25 years of American history, we would be in an entirely different place.”

In his view, without the malign influence of Murdoch’s media empire and its conservative Trump-supporting Fox News “we would be a more unified country. We would not be suffering a lot of the negativity and divisiveness we’re going through right now. I can’t ignore that.”

Sure. Just get rid of Fox News and then there would only be one side of political arguments being heard. Just like the pre-Fox News cable television days. Fox News is the only outlet that provides political panels with fair representation of conservative and Republican voices. The other cable news networks offer panels of liberals occupying three – quarters to one hundred percent of all of the chairs. (The Guardian)

The New York mayor, who has never been on the best of terms with the famously aggressive press in his hometown, has his own criticisms of America’s media but has not restrained his attacks on Trump for branding reporters “the enemy of the people.

“There is no comparison between a progressive critique of the media – and overwhelmingly corporate media, by the way – and a president who does not believe in free speech and is trying to undermine the norms of democracy,” he said.

He did make clear that “if you see a steady decline in democracy, we’re going to have to vividly defend a lot of media we don’t agree with. But I don’t want to give them a free pass on what they have done to all of us.”

Our betters in the leftist bubble want conservatives to know that their criticisms of the media are legit. They then conclude that conservative criticism is proving that conservatives want to stifle free speech. Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up.

This kind of liberal arrogance is why 48% of Republicans agree when Trump refers to the press as “the enemy” and 79% of Republicans believe the press treats President Trump unfairly. Conservative voters feel under attack as they watch news broadcasts. A study by Media Research Center shows that 90% of news coverage of President Trump is negative.

The Media Research Center studied all broadcast evening news coverage of the President from January 1 through April 30, and found 90 percent of the evaluative comments about Trump were negative — precisely the same hostile tone we documented in 2017.

For this report, MRC analysts examined all 1,065 network evening news stories about President Trump and top members of his administration during the first four months of this year. The coverage totalled a whopping 1,774 minutes, or roughly one-third of all evening news airtime.

Back in the day, journalists would try and cover their own political ideology but in Trump’s America, that’s all gone out the window. Journalists are downright hostile to Trump and to his press secretary as can be seen during any White House press briefing with Sarah Huckabee-Sanders. Most look like a bunch of prima donnas preening for the cameras.

It’s no wonder Bill de Blasio would like to erase Fox News’ mark on the last 25 years. Viva la difference.
