Ivanka Trump donates $50,000 to Texas church helping illegal aliens

Ivanka Trump is credited with a $50,000 donation to a Plano, Texas church that helps those detained at the border. Let’s face it, it’s been a rough week with the press coverage of the situation on the border for illegal aliens and their children. While much of the overwrought reporting has been discredited and Barack Obama’s policies have come under a newly found scrutiny, First Daughter Ivanka quietly donated a chunk of change to help out those trying to come into our country the illegal way. A little good news story is welcomed.

Naturally, the source of this feel-good story is anonymous (does anyone have the cajones to speak out publicly anymore?) but clearly someone wanted the story to get out. So much for a quiet personal donation. Note, also, that the donation came before President Trump signed off on discontinuing the practice of separating children from parents caught illegally entering the country.

Ivanka, a senior adviser to President Trump, learned of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano and their efforts to help those at the border through their Twitter feed. The church’s pastor has confirmed the donation.

“We @Prestonwood are currently working to provide solutions to care for children during this terrible immigration crisis. Our Espanol ministry let by Gilberto Corredera is stepping up to the challenge to express the love of Jesus. We are broken-hearted and determined to act” lead pastor Jack Graham tweeted Tuesday.

The source tells CBN News Ivanka Trump reached out to Graham and made the private donation before the announcement of her father’s executive order which takes steps to keep immigrant families together at the border.

Ivanka’s gesture is questioned by the nags on the left that continually beseech her via social media to do something about whatever the outrage of the week happens to be. Of course Ivanka’s second and third wave feminist critics will never be satisfied with her work because she is working for a man with whom they struggle to accept as America’s president. And, Trump is blamed for the immigration law mess though the laws haven’t changed. He just made the decision to actually enforce the law to discourage the recent increase of those coming across the border.

Ivanka expressed her thanks when enforcement of the family separation policy ended. And she also voiced support for the speedy reunion of the families.

President Trump acknowledged that both Ivanka and First Lady Melania Trump lobbied him to keep families together. Several news outlets reported on Melania’s efforts behind the scenes.

Melania Trump has had several private conversations with her husband, the official said, pushing the President to do all he can stop children from being taken from their parents upon illegal entry into this country.

The first lady encouraged a swift legislative solution, yet she also advocated for the President to act alone to sign an executive order to immediately halt the division of families.

He mentioned both Ivanka and Melania as he signed the Executive Order Wednesday.

And when he signed the order Wednesday afternoon, the president was asked whether his daughter Ivanka had shown him photos of children being separated from their parents. “No,” the president said, adding “Ivanka feels very strongly. My wife feels very strongly about it. I feel very strongly about it. I think anybody with a heart would feel very strongly about it. We don’t like to see families separated. At the same time, we don’t want people coming into our country illegally. This takes care of the problem.”

Whatever the reason, I think we can agree that a charitable donation is a good news story for that church. The open borders crowd will never be happy with any law enforcement on the border. The virtue signaling will continue no matter what Trump or Congress does.
