Andrew Tate's leaked texts: 'Man, I sound almost evil' (Plus Tate gets challenged to a fight)

Andrew Tate remains under house arrest in Romania accused of sex trafficking and rape. Authorities, and Tate himself, have said he’s accused of using the “loverboy method” to convince women to do sex work for him on OnlyFans. Tate also had an Telegram channel known as the War Room in which he agreed to share the secrets of his wealth with an exclusive group of men. Tate referred to the teaching he gave in the War Room as a PhD, which stood for “Pimpin’ Hoes Degree,”

Tuesday, Rolling Stone published some screengrabs from the site circa 2021 which show Tate offering advice to his students on how to get women to do sex work for you.

In the messages, which are dated from June 2021, a user identified as “Tate” — Andrew’s handle on the Telegram chats with his War Room members, according to previously verified messages from the group — starts by expounding generally on the virtues he looks for in female partners. “Give me an average moron with no skills who’s blind loyal,” he writes. “I judge basically all females by loyalty. If they’re loyal. And they won’t leave. In the end they’ll do everything you want.”

Tate also posts screengrabs of Instagram photos of other women, referring to them as “target[s] and “assets” to get them to cam. “Ibiza asset has agreed to do [OnlyFans]. PhD writeup forthcoming,” he writes on June 17, 2021, texting a video of an unidentified young woman.

Tate explains that the hardest part of his job is overcoming the unwillingness of women to get naked on camera for strangers.

In later messages, Tate appears to recount in detail the process by which he recruited the woman to work for him by producing sexualized content online. In the thread, he includes a screengrab of what appears to be a text from her, in which she protests against sending him a sexy photo or camming and doing OnlyFans “because my body is intimate and only my husband should be able to touch and see.”

In his messages to War Room members, Tate appears to frame this clear lack of consent as both a challenge and a teaching experience for his acolytes. “This is about the maximum difficulty that you experience in the business,” he writes. “If we all agree on that, I’ll give you a play by play of what I try.” He then solicits feedback from other War Room members, asking them what they would do to convince their partner to do sex work for them — “I would try a good cop bad cop ruse,” writes one person. “Act deeply hurt by her refusal. Flip it on her and get her to start feeling guilty or cry” — before Tate says he’ll be “making the play tonight” to get her to cam.

“Since she moved [to Bucharest] she’s been fed. But nothing else,” he writes. “She’s broke. And she can’t go home. And she can’t leave the house. Man, I sound almost evil. But I’m not. I’m a Shephard. Leading the sheep. She doesn’t realize that following me makes life better for her.”

A spokesman for Tate pointed out that one of the women mentioned in one of the screenshots had denied doing anything against her will. He also framed the screenshots as part of a smear campaign against the brothers. But a source described as someone who was previously close to the Tates said the screenshots accurately reflect how they operate.

“This is 100 percent the way [the Tates’] mind[s] operates in regards to all females,” the source told Rolling Stone. “I honestly don’t think they feel anything for any woman in terms of real genuine feelings and respect.”

Tate is now presenting himself as a born-again Muslim with a deep, religious respect for women and sexual privacy. I saw a video recently in which he said he really doesn’t want to know about other people’s sex lives and thinks poorly of people who look at porn. It doesn’t really jibe well with his willingness to teach other men how to turn women into cam girls on OnlyFans. In fact, it makes no sense at all but no one seems interested in pointing that out.

The weirdest part of this though isn’t Tate himself, it’s the fandom he has created on the right with stuff like this, presenting himself as a victim of cancel culture.

You have to admit it’s pretty weird that the right is simultaneously supporting the film Sound of Freedom and also Andrew Tate. If you’re worried about sex-trafficking, well, this guy is accused of sex-trafficking and rape. Those charges haven’t been proven in court but his fans don’t seem to have much hesitation that maybe he’s not a great guy. Tucker Carlson interviewed him for an hour but let him lie about the charges he was facing and never once asked him where his money came from which seems like a pretty big oversight.

Plus, it was only about 10-minutes ago in internet time that the right was accusing everyone on the left of being a “groomer,” i.e. someone looking to sexualize children. But here you have a guy running a cam girl business who has been accused of texting underage girls on social media.

“It just read ‘Romanian girl’ and he put some flirty emoji,” Daria told me. “I was confused because I [only] had 200 followers, and it was a private account.”

She is one of two teenagers who have described to the BBC how Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan approached them online, apparently using a standard formula.

“It was obvious we were high-school girls,” Daria said. “We had our high school in our bio and everything. I think he was just trying to find girls who were as innocent or naïve as possible, in my opinion.”

This is literally online grooming behavior from a 30-something year-old man directed at high school girls. Why is this guy, of all people, getting a pass? Is it really so hard to believe that a guy living like a Bond villain in Romania might not be a good guy?

My own theory is that most of the fanboy reaction to Tate comes from his past as a kickboxer, i.e. a manly man who his fans enthusiastically refer to as “Top G.” I sometimes think his appeal will only diminish when someone defeats him in the ring or Tate himself refuses a challenge to fight. And maybe that will happen. Someone recently mentioned to Tate on a podcast that a well-known MMA fighter didn’t think much of his skills.

That led to a challenge from Cerrone:

So will Tate vs Cerrone be the undercard for the Musk vs Zuckerberg bout? Probably not given that Tate is still on house arrest and could be heading back to prison. Still, it’s nice to see someone willing to stand up to this guy.
