Grassley: Burisma employee who claimed the Bidens were paid millions has audio recordings

Last week member of the House Oversight Committee were able to view the FD-1023 which alleges that Joe and Hunter Biden were bribed by the Ukrainian company Burisma. Afterwards, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene described what she’d read for the media. Here’s how I summarized her statement:

The claim is that the Ukrainian firm Burisma put Hunter Biden on its board in order to sort out legal problems it was having. Hunter advised Burisma to buy a US company but the informant told Burisma it should hire attorneys and deal with its legal problems. The source claims that the owner of Burisma paid $5 million to one Biden and he paid $5 million to another Biden. The intent of all of this money was to get the prosecutor fired and end the investigation of Burisma. The owner allegedly told the informant that it would take 10 years to unravel the Bidens because of how many bank accounts were involved in the transfer. Finally, the informant said the owner of Burisma initially denied making any payments to Joe Biden but later he claimed to have evidence of payments to both Joe and Hunter Biden.

The type of evidence which the owner of Burisma allegedly kept for himself wasn’t specified. Today, Sen. Chuck Grassley explained that, according to footnotes in the FD-1023, the evidence was audio recordings of phone calls.

Grassley, from the Senate floor, slammed the FBI for not complying with the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena, saying Congress “still lacks a full and complete picture with respect to what that document really says.”

“That’s why it’s important that the document be made public without unnecessary redactions for the American people to see,” he said. “Let me assist for purposes of transparency.”

“The 1023 produced to that House Committee redacted reference that the foreign national who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden allegedly has audio recordings of his conversations with them,” Grassley continued. “17 total recordings.”

“According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses 15 audio recordings of phone calls between him and Hunter Biden,” Grassley said. “According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses two audio recordings of phone calls between him and then-Vice President Joe Biden.”

To be clear, the source behind the 1023 is not claiming that he or she has these recordings. The source is claiming that the person at Burisma who told him (or her) about the deal kept these recordings. It doesn’t appear that the source ever heard them, only a mention that they existed.

So the document looks very damning but it would require someone to identify and investigate the Burisma executive who allegedly said all of these things in order to move this story forward. In other words, someone may have said all of these things about bribery and phone recordings but that doesn’t prove they are true. This could be the Biden equivalent of the Moscow pee-tape.

Obviously if these claims were true they would be explosive. But if the Burisma exec really did pay out this money and keep recordings of the Bidens for insurance, how has all of this remained secret with the exception of this one source. It just seems there would be more people in the close vicinity of this decision who would know something about it. Where are they? Is the thinking that Ukraine can’t afford to make Biden an enemy now that they are at war and the US is supplying them with weapons?

Here’s Chuck Grassley’s speech abut what is in the footnotes of the 1023.
