Canadian woman pleads guilty to sending ricin to President Trump and to Texas officials

There are some pretty disturbed people out there and, contrary to what Democrats would have you believe, they aren’t all on the right. In this case, a French-Canadian woman has pleaded guilty to sending a poisonous substance to President Trump and to several Texas officials.

Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, 55, admitted making the ricin at her home in Quebec and mailing the potentially deadly poison from Canada to the recipients, before driving to the Peace Bridge Border Crossing into the United States in Buffalo, where she was arrested on weapons charges on Sept. 20, 2020.

“I found a new name for you: ‘The Ugly Tyrant Clown’,” Ferrier wrote in her letter to Trump. The letter was received at an off-site facility near Washington where mail addressed to the White House is prescreened and tested for dangerous substances, according to the FBI.

Ferrier, a computer programmer, admitted in plea papers that she instructed Trump to “[g]ive up and remove [his] application for this election,” after writing on Twitter earlier that month “#killTrump” and proposing that someone should “please shoot [T]rump in the face.”

“I made a Special Gift for you to make a decision,” her letter stated, according to the FBI. “If it doesn’t work, I’ll find better recipe for another poison, or I might use my gun when I’ll be able to come. Enjoy! FREE REBEL SPIRIT.”

And she may have been quite serious about using a gun. After sending the ricin letters from Canada, Ferrier was arrested after crossing the Canadian border into the US with a handgun and a lot of ammunition:

She was arrested trying to enter a border crossing in Buffalo, New York, carrying a gun, a knife and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, authorities said. Her lawyers did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment on the plea.

The attempt to mail ricin to officials in Texas had to do with a prior arrest in that state back in 2019.

Envelopes containing ricin were also mailed to law enforcement agencies in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, according to another law enforcement official. The official did not say which agencies were sent the envelopes but said they are believed to have been mailed by the same person who sent one to the White House…

One of the envelopes was sent to the police in Mission, Texas, said Investigator Art Flores, a spokesman for the border community’s police department. He said no one was hurt and that the envelope was in law enforcement’s custody. He declined to comment further.

Sheriff Eddie Guerra, of Hidalgo County, Texas, said envelopes containing ricin were also “mailed to me and three of my detention staff” but no one was injured. In a tweet, he said additional information would be released Tuesday.

The charges she’s pleaded guilty to, including two counts of having a biological weapon, mean she could have been facing life in prison. She has apparently agreed to a plea deal which will result in a sentence of just over 20 years. The sentencing will take place April 26 when the judge has to agree to accept the plea deal. Honestly, she sounds nutty as a fruitcake to me. It’s a miracle she hasn’t hurt anyone yet.

The Post points out that Trump isn’t the first president to be sent ricin. President Obama was sent the substance, which can be made from castor beans, on two occasions. Here’s a news report containing a phot of Ferrier. She looks totally normal…no, not really.
