Dave Chappelle's attacker: 'I wanted him to know what he said was triggering'

I think we all probably assumed this was the case but yesterday the NY Post confirmed it in a jailhouse interview with Isaiah Lee, the man who attacked Dave Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl.

In an exclusive jailhouse interview, Isaiah Lee told The Post that Chappelle should be more “sensitive” when it comes to the jokes he cracks.

“I identify as bisexual … and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering,” Lee said Saturday at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, dressed in brown jail garb and sporting a sling on his broken right arm.

“I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect.”…

…he said he doesn’t regret what happened because he saw it as an opportunity to speak out about homelessness, LGBTQ rights and child sex abuse, topics that often serve as fodder for comedians.

Lee wasn’t charged with a felony for the attack on Chappelle but as Ed pointed out last week, he is being charged with a felony in a separate case.

The man who allegedly attacked comedian Dave Chappelle onstage at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this month has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his roommate in December.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a press release Thursday that the new charges against Isaiah Lee, 23, stem from a December 2 incident in which he allegedly stabbed his roommate during a fight at a transitional housing apartment.

So the man who wanted Chappelle to be more “sensitive” to LGBTQ rights also tried to murder a roommate just months earlier over something. Just a thought but maybe this guy isn’t the best spokesman for sensitivity. Or maybe he just assumed he wouldn’t get caught. If fact, it’s only because of the attack on Chappelle that Lee was identified as the suspect in the stabbing. The victim apparently recognized him from press coverage of the incident.

I don’t know if Lee has mental problems (he says no but his attorney says yes) but he seems to be a true believer in the trendy leftist idea that speech is violence and therefore can be responded to with violence from anyone who feels harmed.

Finally, I can’t move on without noting that this is the second time recently where DA George Gascon has give someone a break on more serious charges only to find out that person may be a murderer/attempted murderer.

You may remember the case of Hannah Tubbs (formerly James Tubbs) who molested a young girl in a Denny’s bathroom weeks before turning 18. Gascon charged Tubbs as a minor so Tubbs got just 2 years to be served in a juvenile facility. Subsequent jailhouse recordings revealed that Tubbs had no remorse and may well have announced a trans identity after being arrested solely to avoid being put in a male prison.

In any case, since all of that happened, Tubbs has also been charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in the Kern river.

At the hearing, sheriff’s Sgt. Steven Davis said witnesses told him Clark and Tubbs engaged in a lengthy argument the evening of April 19, 2019, while staying at the Keyesville campsite. Tubbs had stolen a $100 Western Union payment Clark received from his father, and Clark threatened to call law enforcement, witnesses said.

The following morning, Clark went for a walk. He didn’t return.

Two of the campers, Josef Buffaloe and Brittany Hill, said Tubbs and another man searched for Clark, Davis testified. They said Tubbs returned and told them he killed Clark to protect them, Davis said.

So, despite the light sentence from DA Gascon, it looks like Tubbs could wind up spending a lot more time in prison, albeit probably a women’s prison.
