This morning Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran posted a video in which she tries to set the record straight about the abortion bill she supported this week. The premise of this clip is that “you may have heard a lot of misinformation about my bill” and this is her chance to give you the straight facts. Here’s the clip and I’ll walk through it below:
Over the last few days, you may have heard a lot of misinformation about my bill to help women make their own healthcare decisions in consultation with their doctors.
Here are the facts, straight from me.#IStandWithWomen pic.twitter.com/egMO2euUHe

“I presented my bill this week and I was really surprised by the line of questioning that I got,” Tran said. She continued, “This bill had been introduced in the general assembly in previous years and in fact, this session was also introduced in our state senate.
“I want to be very clear about what’s currently allowed in Virginia law. Right now women are able to access an abortion in the later stages of pregnancy under certain conditions with the approval of medical doctors. I’ve done nothing to change that. What I have done is try to make sure that women are able to make these decisions and access these services in a timely manner.”
The problem Kathy Tran has here is that she’s not correcting any misinformation. She’s trying to cloud up the accurate but horrifying information she accidentally revealed earlier this week. It’s not hard to tell which Kathy Tran is telling the truth. Hint: It’s not the one in the Planned-Parenthood-pink jacket reading a damage control script which sounds as if it were scripted by NARAL.
Under current law, a woman could request a 3rd-trimester abortion but it would require a sign-off by three doctors who agree there is a threat of death or “substantial” and irremediable impairment of a woman’s mental health. Tran’s bill cuts that to one doctor and removes the language about the substantial harm. In other words, it creates a loophole designed to allow abortion under any circumstances, right up to the moment of birth, so long as one late-term abortion doctor signs off.
That’s exactly what Tran admitted when she was asked about it earlier this week.
Gilbert: So, um, where it’s obvious that a woman is about to give birth. She has physical signs that she is about to give birth. Would that still be a point at which she could request an abortion if she was so-certified…she’s dilating.
Tran: Mr. Chairman, that would be a, you know, a decision that the doctor, the physician and the woman would make at that point.
Gilbert: I understand that. I’m asking if your bill allows that.
Tran: My bill would allow that, yes.
Don’t listen to Delegate Damage Control, listen to Kathy Tran. She was telling the truth:
Update: Here’s some totally unbiased Kathy Tran damage control from Post.
WaPo: "Republicans circulated a video of her testimony about a bill she proposed that would have loosened restrictions on late-term abortions." Exhibit 4378 in why conservatives don't trust MSM. The story is not GOP reax to the bill; the story is the bill.https://t.co/s7tC9fqUIH

Impressively, in this puff piece that is supposedly about the reactions to her Virginia House of Delegates testimony about the radical pro-abortion bill that she proposed, the WaPo reporter manages to provide exactly ***zero*** quotes from her testimony.🤔

One of the issues on which the media is most shamelessly biased is abortion. They’re out of step with most Americans, and either don’t know or don’t care. Their coverage is often indistinguishable from abortion lobby PR, plus a requisite quote or two from pouncing conservatives.
