Mika Brzezinski on Hillary's discussion of sexual harassment: 'She needs to stop talking about this topic'

Friday Mika Brzezinski took a shot at Bill Clinton, calling him a “predator” and agreeing with Sen. Gillibrand’s comment that Bill should have resigned office after the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke. Monday, Brzezinski doubled down, saying people who accepted Bill Clinton’s behavior at the time are hypocrites. Brzezinski, also rebuked Hillary Clinton for comments she made over the weekend, saying that Hillary should stay quiet on this issue until Bill comes forward and apologizes.

“I think the hold that the Clintons had on the Democratic is over,” Brzezinski said early in the discussion. She added, “I think people are feeling like they finally can speak their minds about it all, but they didn’t for a long time.”

Later, panelist Mike Barnicle suggested Sen. Gillibrand’s comments about Bill Clinton were entirely political and intended to bolster her profile for a possible presidential run. Brzezinski disagreed saying, “I disagree with you, Mike Barnicle. I don’t think this is political on Kirsten Gillibrand’s part. I think she’s looking at the entire picture here.

“One of the reasons why we, and I mean me and Kirsten Gillibrand, Democrats, lost is because Bill Clinton’s behavior was accepted. It was pushed under the rug and even women defended him.”

At this point, Barnicle interrupted to say, “He was impeached.”

“I know but he continues to flourish today and his wife ran for president even though these women who accused him were attacked in the media, were maligned or settled,” Brzezinski replied. She continued, “That’s a different standard than we’re holding other people who were accused of the same behavior or less [bad] today. And this is why we have Trump. It’s all connected.

“I applaud Kirsten Gillibrand for finally saying what is true. We are in this situation because we have been hypocritical on both sides of the aisle and whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican sexually harassing someone who is 22 years old when you’re in power is just wrong and you should go.”

A few minutes later, the show played audio of Hillary Clinton saying, “We have a man who’s accused of sexual assault sitting in the White House, don’t we? And the very credible accusations against him have not been taken seriously.”

After the clip, Brzezinski said, “I’m sorry, but I’m not sorry, actually. Hillary Clinton needs to stop.

“She needs to stop talking about this topic unless Bill Clinton wants to come forward and apologize for being a sexual harasser, for settling with women, for what happened with Monica. He needs to apologize. He needs to apologize as quickly as Al Franken did as much as Mark Halperin did and as much as he wants to.

“These men who are apologizing, we need to deal with them, but if you’re not going to apologize and it’s clear you’ve done something wrong. Please, please, you the politician and your wife the politician need to not talk about these issues. Just don’t, okay, unless you want to come to the table with some honesty.

I’ll just add that I think Brzezinski is correct about the people who defended Bill Clinton who are also now attacking Roy Moore and Donald Trump. They’re hypocrites and Hillary is the chief hypocrite because she knows (and knew at the time) the accusations were true.
