Ted Cruz suspends campaign after Indiana loss

Ted Cruz came in second in the Indiana primary tonight and shortly afterwards came out and announced he would be suspending his campaign.

Cruz was introduced by his running mate Carly Fiorina and then gave a brief speech with his wife by his side. “From the beginning I have said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory,” Cruz said. He continued, “Tonight, I’m sorry to say….” At this point the crowd interrupted him with shouts of “No!” After a pause Cruz continued, “It appears that path has been foreclosed.”

“Together, we left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it everything we’ve got, but the voters chose another path. And so, with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign,” Cruz concluded.

Cruz went on to say he would continue to defend the constitution and America’s Judeo-Christian values. He closed with “Thank you to each of you and God bless you,” and then gave his wife a hug.
