Vance Pounces on Kamala Effectively

From the moment Kamala Harris became her party's de facto nominee for the presidency, her team began cranking out advertisements attacking Donald Trump as you would expect. But she's also been attacking JD Vance as well. In one recent ad, Harris somberly warns the country that if her opponents are elected, Vance will be loyal only to Donald Trump, not to America. It's certainly true that loyalty is an attribute that Trump values highly, but going after Vance in this fashion was an obvious mistake. He's a Marine, after all, not to mention being a job creator. Accusing him of a lack of loyalty to America would be a heavy lift under the best of circumstances. While addressing the crowd at a campaign rally in Minnesota, Vance fired back, and he didn't pull any punches. (NY Post)

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance ripped Vice President Kamala Harris for questioning his loyalty to the US during an impassioned speech Saturday.

The Ohio Senator defended his record as a Marine Corps vet and a small business owner in response to a campaign ad Harris released earlier this month claiming he would be “loyal only to Trump, not to our country.”

“Now, I saw the other day Kamala Harris questioned my loyalty to this country. That’s the word she used; loyalty. And it’s an interesting word. Semper Fi: loyalty, because there is no greater sign of disloyalty to this country than what Kamala Harris has done at our southern border,” Vance fumed to the crowd in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Harris doesn't have that advertisement up on her YouTube channel, but you can still watch it here. While they might simply not have gotten around to it yet, perhaps there is some other reason she's not featuring the ad more. She is free to criticize Vance's conservative positions and policies, but questioning his loyalty to America is just beyond the pale. He's a United States Marine. Their motto is literally "Semper Fidelis." (Always faithful or always loyal.) He served in combat in Iraq.

Vance went on to point out his contributions and sacrifices before asking Harris, "What the hell have you done to question our loyalty to this country?" He answered his own question by saying, "Nothing." And there really is no comparison between the two of them if you peruse their biographies. Vance grew up in one of the poorest and most challenging environments imaginable, needing to overcome significant odds to achieve his goals and dreams. Kamala Harris may be the product of parents who divorced while she was young, but she still attended elite schools. She went straight to law school and briefly worked as an attorney before entering the world of politics and climbing the Democratic ladder. She did all of that for herself as near as I can tell and she never had to sacrifice much. So who gave more to their country?

Speaking of the military, while JD Vance was serving, what did Kamala do? Military.com finds a few nice things to say about her record in that regard, but it mostly involved prosecuting cases where veterans were targeted or voting for bills that expanded veterans' benefits. As for our active duty military members, that's another question. Harris has joined Biden in trying to force DEI into military leadership and she "fully supported" his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. That speaks to her judgment in terms of potentially being the next Commander in Chief and it doesn't paint a pretty picture. We're having enough trouble recruiting new troops as it is without putting her in charge.

I'm frankly amazed that Kamala Harris is remaining within striking distance of Donald Trump in the polls thus far. There is so little to recommend her and she has been at Biden's side from the beginning as he crafted the terrible policies that have done so much damage to the country and the entire world. It seems unimaginable that anyone would think that we need four more (or God forbid eight) years of those policies. JD Vance is still a relative political newcomer and he stumbles with his messaging at times. But he comes from solid stock and putting people who are not career politicians in charge wouldn't be the worst thing imaginable.
