Hezbollah Leader Praises Campus Protesters

Not everyone hates the pro-Hamas protesters on America's college campuses. It turns out that they're pretty popular in other parts of the world. For example, Sheikh Naim Qassem, the Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah is a big fan. He wrote a glowing endorsement of them last week which has now been translated and released to American media outlets. The Sheikh believes that the protesters are being very effective in weakening Joe Biden's support for Israel. He also believes that Biden's current policies are putting him at risk of losing the election. This demonstrates the fact that these protests are not simply isolated incidents of local unrest. They are making headlines around the world. Sadly, they are precisely the wrong sort of headlines. (Daily Wire)

A top leader in one of the world’s largest terrorist organizations praised the left-wing pro-Hamas protests that have erupted on college campuses across America over the last two weeks, saying that they are causing President Joe Biden to weaken his support for Israel.

The remarks late last week from Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem were translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

“Biden is under internal and external pressure because of his policy and approach,” he said. “The pressure within America is more significant. He is at risk of losing the elections because of Gaza.”

If we're being honest, it's kind of hard to argue with Naim Qassem. The protesters are apparently being "effective." Unfortunately, they are being effective in undermining our country's support of our closest ally in the Middle East. The Sheikh is also correct in noting that Biden is paying more attention to politics and polls than to good policy in the Middle East. Hezbollah is no doubt rooting for Joe Biden to win in November. Qassem likely knows that if Donald Trump comes back into power, there could be a cruise missile with his name on it heading his way at any time.

This news should really be disseminated widely among the protesters. If the things that you are doing are drawing praise from the leader of one of the worst terrorist organizations in the world, shouldn't that give you pause? If the purveyors of chaos, destruction, and death think that you're their kind of people, wouldn't you stop for a moment and look in the mirror?

The Department of National Intelligence has an extensive portfolio of Hezbollah's activities dating back decades. They blew up the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in 1983 and again in 1984. They have hijacked airplanes and assassinated many people, including foreign government officials. They are a state-designated terrorist organization. Does any of this information sink in for the protesters? When you have Hezbollah on your side, you are on the side of terrorism. Regardless of how you may feel about Israel and the war in Gaza, you should still be able to recognize the good guys from the bad guys. Apparently many of you can't, unfortunately.

The Sheikh went on to say that Joe Biden will be influenced by the protesters whether he wants to or not. "We will see him taking actions because of the protesters’ influence on him," he said. Unfortunately, he may be correct about that also. We've already seen some of those "actions" in the form of holding up aid to Israel and publicly calling on Netanyahu to stay out of Rafah. Perhaps the protesters are pleased with themselves about this. But I honestly wish they would take a moment and consider what it is that they're cheering for.
