94-Year-Old Veteran Kicked Out of Nursing Home, Replaced by Migrants

This seems to keep happening in New York City (and other places) and it should have everyone seeing red over the Biden border crisis. The latest incident took place at what was formerly a senior living center called Island Shores Residences on Staten Island in New York. That facility is now known as the Midland Beach Migrant Center. That turned out to be bad news for 94-year-old US Army veteran Frank Tammaro. He had been living independently at Island Shores for some time but was told earlier this year to pack his things and leave within two months. His room was given to illegal migrants and he is now living with his daughter.

A 94-year-old US Army veteran is blasting his Staten Island assisted living home for kicking him out then cutting a deal to welcome migrants — saying it’s “not fair” he was sent packing.

Frank Tammaro was given less than two months’ notice he and 53 other seniors would have to move out of Island Shores Residences in March, and had to make other living arrangements.

“I felt horrible,” Tammaro, a lifelong New Yorker, told Fox News. “It’s no joke getting thrown out of a house.”

He then moved into another facility, but after he fell, he and his daughter Barbara Annunziata decided it would be best for him to move in with her and her children.

This was yet another “shady deal” as one local representative described it. The community was originally told that Island Shores would be undergoing “refurbishment” and then be relaunched as another senior center. But in the background, a deal was being cut to convert it into yet another migrant housing facility. So the senior citizens whose families paid to have them live there were shown to the door and they were replaced by illegal migrants who are being given lodging and food for free.

Tammaro’s daughter, who is now caring for her father, complained that the migrants are “entitled to everything” while her father is “entitled to nothing.” After leaving Island Shores, Frank briefly moved into another senior facility, but after injuring himself in a fall, he moved in with his daughter. She has since struggled to find insurance that will cover a senior living aid to care for him during the day.

When residents of the neighborhood originally learned of the plan, they staged a protest. Dozens of them attempted to block an MTA bus that was bringing migrants to the facility. The city sent in the police and they began arresting protesters to clear the route. None of the migrants (who are in the country illegally) were arrested.

It’s inexplicable how this keeps happening. These migrants have no place in this country. Even if New York City insists on billing itself as a “sanctuary,” the burden is on the city to find a place to put them. Not one citizen should be forcibly displaced just to offer a free residence to an illegal migrant, to say nothing of one of our Korean War veterans. Frank points out that he wasn’t the only retired veteran living at Island Shores. Others were put out on the street as well, though their families haven’t taken their stories to the press yet. The entire thing is inexcusable.

Part of the blame can be placed on the shoulders of the City Council and Mayor Eric Adams for cutting these sorts of deals. But the final blame rests with Joe Biden. If it weren’t for the crisis caused by his open border policies, none of this would be taking place. And yet here we are. Three years into his presidency, those America owes the most to are being displaced in favor of those to whom we owe nothing.
