I’m old enough to remember back when Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Alejandro Mayorkas all told us, “The border is closed.” Ah… good times. But as of this week, it appears that they’re not even trying to fake it anymore. We just learned that migrants who came to this country illegally from Venezuela are not only being allowed to stay, but the President is giving them temporary protected status, allowing them to apply for work permits almost immediately. And how many new “workers” are we talking about? Nearly half a million of them. And once they make it that far into the process, you know they’re never going to be leaving. So where are we putting half a million new people? That’s not Joe Biden’s problem. It’s yours. (Associated Press)

The Biden administration says it’s granting temporary legal status to hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans who are already in the country — quickly making them eligible to work — as it grapples with growing numbers of people fleeing the South American country and elsewhere to arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The move — along with promises to accelerate work permits for many migrants — may appease Democratic leaders who have pressured the White House to do more to aid asylum seekers, while also providing grist for Republicans who say the President Joe Biden has been too lax on immigration.

The Homeland Security Department plans to grant Temporary Protected Status to an estimated 472,000 Venezuelans who arrived in the country as of July 31, making it easier for them to get authorization to work in the U.S.

We’re seriously talking about 472,000 people suddenly being authorized to stay here in one fell swoop. That’s more than the entire population of Miami, Florida. Heck, it’s more than 80 percent of the population of Wyoming. And these aren’t people who applied for asylum at an embassy in Venezuela and traveled here legally to go through the process. They just showed up uninvited, stepped over the border in violation of our laws, and demanded that they be allowed to stay.

Do you know how many people were approved for asylum just ten years ago in 2013? There were 25,1999 applications approved. For the entire year. And that was under a Democratic President, not to mention Biden himself being the veep. And yet he just approved almost 200 times that many invaders in one day.

Nobody ever agreed to any of this. Congress has never taken a vote on allowing this sort of invasion. There has never been any sort of referendum among the American people. Joe Biden has done all of this damage single-handedly in a dictatorial fashion with a stroke of his pen. Our cities are already overrun and we have enough of our own people sleeping on the streets. If there were any justice in the world, Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas would all have already been impeached for not just dereliction of duty but an intentional betrayal of the country’s sovereignty. But the Democrats in Congress will never go along with that because they would rather watch the ship sink than hold one of their own accountable.

By the end of next year, even modest estimates suggest that close to ten million people will have entered our country illegally and not been ejected on Joe Biden’s watch. Even if Republicans retake the White House and both chambers of Congress (and God help us if we don’t), there is simply no way that such a number of people will be able to be located, detained, and deported. We couldn’t do it even if we tripled the size of ICE and had them working on the project nonstop for the next four years. At this point, the damage may simply be too great to overcome. And there are still people who seriously want to see Biden win a second term in office if it means keeping the Bad Orange Man away. It simply boggles my mind.
