It is, perhaps, somewhat ironic that we tackle this subject on Labor Day, an occasion when we ostensibly celebrate those who exert themselves and labor to keep the economic machine of our capitalist democracy grinding onward, allowing citizens to contribute to the general advancement of the country while working toward what was historically considered “the American dream.” Those who toil, raise families, build careers, and hope to pass something on to the next generation were traditionally revered. That lifestyle has always included goals that involved eventual home ownership, but we also developed a culture where personal transportation and mobility were critical, leading to a culture where personal car ownership was among those objectives. But now everything has changed. And there is no better example of this than our supposed Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg, adopting a position where Americans should be ushered away from owning their own cars, be they gas-driven or even electric. Everyone should be using public transportation as much as possible. Well… not “everyone,” of course. But most certainly you. (Townhall)

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appointed an Obama-era group made up of 24 “leading experts” to advise him on “transportation equity,” claiming the privilege of owning a car ignites “systemic racism” and should be banned because of their negative impact on the environment. 

Members of the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity include “spatial policy scholar” Andrea Marpillero-Colomina, who says, “All cars are bad” and calls for “zero emission transit.” 

However, she told the Free Beacon that she is not “advocating for a complete erasure” of cars but hopes to convince Buttigieg to re-direct the U.S. from relying on private motor vehicles.

Make a note of how they aren’t “advocating for a complete erasure of cars.” Instead, they want the government to “re-direct the U.S. from relying on private motor vehicles.”  The word “private” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. In other words, they won’t be getting rid of all cars. Just your cars. Your private cars. Just like they won’t be getting rid of all planes. The military will still need jets (sold by the military-industrial complex and paid for by your taxpayer dollars). And important people like John Kerry will still need their private jets because they are very busy. But you don’t need to fly.

None of our supposed governmental betters live by any of these rules, of course. It goes much further than the grossly obvious example of John Kerry and his private jet trips. We should all be taking up less space and using so many resources. We shouldn’t be impacting the environment and should instead be devoting resources to others, or so we are told. We recently learned that Barack Obama is devoting himself to winning another term in office for Joe Biden, despite his obvious cognitive decline and history of corruption. Because we have to save the world.

Did you know that the Obamas left office and became vastly wealthy in a very short period of time? Unlike the Bidens, we know where most of the Obamas’ money came from (Netflix, book deals, speaking tours, the donor class) but just how wealthy did they get after going to Washington? They have a jaw-dropping $11.7 million dollar mansion on Martha’s Vineyard, another mansion in Kalorama, Washington DC, and a home in Hawaii provided by a wealthy donor that would make some of the wealthiest envious. Do you suppose they are giving up their private transportation? Are they living without air conditioning? They have no official public duties to excuse these excesses. But you are supposed to do without.

And what about Joe Biden, who used to be known as Amtrak Joe? When was the last time he took the train? Granted, he has to have Secret Service coverage now that he’s in office, but this started long before now. The Pelosis, who live in mansions, want to take away your gas stoves, but they also live in luxury, largely paid for through insider trading by all indications. What are they giving up?

So Pete Buttigieg, who was given a position at the Department of Transportation based on nothing more than the claim that “he always liked cars,” no longer wants you to have a car. But he’s going to have a car. And his preferred method of travel is via private jets now that he’s cashing in as a Washington insider with the Biden administration.

And make no mistake, this is not a specifically Democratic Problem. We have plenty of establishment Republicans who frequently sing along with the choir and mimic many of these policies for political advantage while hypocritically enjoying the luxurious benefits of the swamp. How many of those advantages do you enjoy? For the vast majority, I would venture to guess that not many of you do.

These people are running a massive scam on all of us. They do not practice what they preach. They never intended to. They are robbing you and your progeny while they live lives of luxury at your expense. And we don’t have to tolerate it. They need to go. A serious housecleaning is needed, and I don’t just mean in the House of Representatives, though they are clearly part of the scam. Stop putting up with it or you will be living in pods and eating bugs while they laugh at you from their mansions. Hopefully, this can be taken care of at the ballot box. If not, other remedies may be required. But enough is enough.
