If we weren’t talking about such a tragedy in the lives of actual children, you might be tempted to start some sort of a contest this week. We could ask people to hazard a guess as to when the discussion of transgender issues in this country will reach the point where it can’t possibly get any more stupid. If we did that, a strong contender showed up on Friday during an installment of the ABC “Nightline” series. It was titled, “Identity Denied: Trans in America.” They of course enlisted one of the most famous trans people in the federal government (now that Sam Brinton is gone), HHS Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine. During the interview, Levine, who somehow obtained a medical degree after college, posed a question about children experiencing gender dysphoria. What if they’re “going through the wrong puberty?” Honestly… you can’t make this stuff up. (Fox News)
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine recently argued that medical interventions such as hormone therapy could be necessary for children who are experiencing the “wrong puberty.”
Levine appeared Friday in the first installment of the ABC “Nightline” series, “Identity Denied: Trans in America,” which featured a teenager who claimed to be under attack by Republican efforts to ban gender reassignment surgeries and drugs for minors in states across the country.
Levine dismissed concerns that children younger than 18 are too young to consent to what the LBGTQ community describes as “gender–affirming care.”
Levine declared that both adolescence and puberty are “hard.” I’m not going to argue that point and most parents would agree. But the HHS official went on to say, “What if you’re going through the wrong puberty? What if you inside feel that you are female, but now you’re going through a male puberty?”
As I said, it may seem incredible, but this person is allegedly a certified doctor and a pediatrician to boot. Clearly, he must have always known that there isn’t a “male puberty” and a “female puberty” as options on a menu. Yes, the process is obviously different for each gender, but the body knows what it’s doing except in thankfully rare cases of genetic anomalies. When children’s bodies reach the stage where it’s time to move into reproductive viability, the appropriate changes take place. There’s nothing “wrong” about it.
Is it any wonder that we’re teetering on the edge of losing a significant chunk of an entire generation of children whose lives will be ruined forever? Levine not only has a medical degree but also is a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine. The “Admiral” previously served as a state physician general and state Secretary of Health. This is supposed to be a person that people look up to for health and medical issues. And they’re out there on television spouting fantasies and dangerous nonsense.
Perhaps Admiral Levine needs to go spend some time talking to the detransitioners who are coming forward in increasing numbers. For some who only went through what is characterized as “social transitioning,” they can make their way back to a mostly normal life full of potential. But for those who were fed into the medical transition pipeline, there is never any way to fully go back. The unnatural hormones those children are given produce permanent, negative results. The prolonged use of puberty blockers (that were never approved for this use by the FDA) creates even greater disasters. And, most obviously of all, the surgery is completely irreversible except in the most cosmetic of ways.
We have an obvious mental health crisis in this country at the moment and it’s been spreading around the world. We’re not just talking about the homeless population here. The children being lured into the transgender pipeline frequently demonstrate other mental health issues beyond gender dysphoria in so many of the cases we’ve covered here. And nobody is helping them. They’re just being told that everything will be better if they just “turn into a boy” or “turn into a girl.” And it’s all a lie.
Rachel Levine should stand up and do the right thing by honestly confronting this issue and offering legitimate medical guidance, not dangerous, warped fantasies. If not, perhaps government service really isn’t a good fit for you.
