The MSM isn't biased. It's flatly corrupt

Townhall Media

Please pardon a bit of a rant on a Friday morning, but this week’s news cycle has left me looking for some matches to set my hair on fire. What should have been a week of truly shocking news with the potential to shake Washington to its core has turned into a degrading spectacle that should have the Founders of the great American experiment rolling in their graves and wondering why they wasted the ink required to write the First Amendment.

We’ve all grown used to a certain level of bias when consuming news from the nation’s various newspapers and cable news networks. Whenever a controversial political story pops up, you can expect CNN and MSNBC to offer a take that’s more favorable to Democrats and the left, while Fox News will deliver an interpretation more supportive of conservatives and Republicans. A similar difference in tone is regularly observed between the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. These trends are just baked into the media cake at this point.

But when we finally got to see Wednesday’s briefing from James Comer and the House Oversight Committee, I assumed that we had finally stumbled across something shocking enough that the entire Fifth Estate would be marching in lockstep and demanding answers. In retrospect, that was clearly an idiotic assumption on my part. Ed touched on some of this yesterday, but the response from most of the media has simply been too revolting to ignore.

The New York Times found nothing in the briefing worth of coverage beyond saying there was “no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden.” One of the most disappointing responses came from Jake Tapper on CNN. I’ve long regarded him as one of the best remaining journalists on that network, but his comments on the revelations from the Comer investigation were stunning. He had almost nothing to say beyond the fact that there was no proof that the millions of dollars coming from CEFC “were illegal.” And there was “no proof that Joe Biden was involved.” (You can watch the video here.) Comer laid out rock-solid proof that tens of millions of dollars came from very shady characters in China, Ukraine, and a bunch of other countries yet to come. And it wound up in the bank accounts of at least ten members of the Biden family. There have been zero suggestions as to what sorts of goods or services were delivered in exchange for those vast sums of money. How can anyone have the audacity to look at themselves in the mirror and call themself a journalist if that doesn’t at least raise a few questions in your mind? Do none of you honestly have any curiosity about this story or a desire to dig into it if only to prove that there’s some normal, legal explanation?

If the money was earned legitimately, why wasn’t there just a check written out to Hunter Biden? Why would it pass through numerous Limited Liability Companies with no apparent record of conducting any sort of business beyond what was obviously money laundering? What did two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren do to earn large sums of Chinese cash?

Some of these supposed journalists are also focusing on the lack of a direct cash deposit to an account in Joe Biden’s name. But we’ve long known (thanks to The Laptop From Hell) that Joe Biden and Hunter Biden had a shared bank account, a fact which I’ve always found to be bizarre. Money was sloshing back and forth in that account for years. Hunter Biden complained bitterly about having to give “half” of his money to “Pops.” One of his business partners has already confirmed that one set of payments included “ten percent for the Big Guy” and that the “Big Guy” was Joe Biden.

How much more do you need??? This isn’t a case of bias or spin from these news organizations. It’s not even bad journalism. This is a cover-up and an obvious case of corruption. And you should all be ashamed of yourselves.
