Republican Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee has been one of the more active members in the House in terms of pushing for the establishment of the Pentagon’s new UFO (or “UAP”) investigative office. He has engaged in bipartisan efforts along these lines with members of both chambers, ranging from Marco Rubio to Kirsten Gillibrand. With the release of the new Pentagon UFO report last week, NewsNation interviewed him to determine where this process stands and how satisfied he was with the report. To put it mildly, Burchett clearly feels that there is much left to be done and the Pentagon is still being far too secretive. From there, the interview took some “interesting” turns, as he delved into the deep history of the subject. (Mediaite)
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) shared his unfiltered thoughts about UFOs on NewsNation Saturday, including accusing the federal government of a “huge cover up” and telling viewers that there is proof of UFOs in the Bible…
[Anchor Natasha Zouves] introduced Burchett, who has represented Tennessee in Congress since he was first elected in 2018, as a vocal advocate for declassifying information about UFOs.
Zouves asked Burchett what he thought the 171 unidentified flying objects could be, and he replied that he had been a “believer in phenomena for a long time,” explaining that he was a Christian but “not a very good one” but he did read his Bible.
Decrying the lack of transparency, Burchett told NewsNation that “We’ve been covering this thing up since the ’40s, since Roswell or before then.” Saying that he didn’t trust the government on this subject (welcome to the club, congressman), he repeated his call to end the coverup. He opined that America is ready for the truth and we “need to know and to stop with all of the shenanigans.”
The reference that Mediaite makes above to biblical scripture is one that I’ve heard Burchett comment on in previous interviews. There are plenty of people who are deeply vested in the topic who agree with him as well. He was talking about the first chapter in the Book of Ezekiel, verses 1:1-28 in the King James version of the Old Testament. In it, Ezekiel describes seeing the Lord in a bizarre vehicle that descends from the skies. Some people have interpreted the description as being that of a space vehicle of some sort. You can read that passage at the link and decide for yourself, but it’s certainly one of the stranger depictions to show up in the Good Book.
As to the government covering up pertinent information regarding UFOs over the past decades, as I’ve written here before, there is no doubt in my mind that it happened. My attempts to submit FOIA requests to the Pentagon for government records regarding UFOs have only made me more convinced that it’s true. The problem is, we in the general public have no idea what it was that they were covering up.
Burchett makes a reference to the famous Roswell incident during the interview. We know for a fact that the government was covering up something there because they’ve given us a total of three entirely different explanations over the years. We can also rest fairly well assured that it wasn’t a damn weather balloon. Was it a top-secret government surveillance program targeting the Soviet Union? Was it an alien craft from another world? We don’t know because they’ve refused to be fully transparent with all of the details.
As we’ve seen over the course of our coverage here of the evolution of the UAP Task Force and now the new AARO office, the Pentagon’s reflexive instinct to overclassify everything to do with this subject hasn’t diminished noticeably. They are still insisting that they will keep all of the remaining UFO videos they have classified and not release them to the public, no matter how old they are or how outdated any of our technology that might be revealed in the videos may be. Since Burchett has been briefed on this subject in Congress, I’m guessing he’s seen more than the public has and he wants it all produced for the world to see. I wish him nothing but the best in his efforts.
You can watch the interview below on the NewsNation YouTube channel. It’s fairly short and definitely worth a look.
